I think the song is about exactly what the title is "structure". The first words of the song is "why did you change, why did you bend and break?" this could imply why did the structure (of society?) change, bending to something that shouldn't be followed.Water to wine, they are two totally seperate things so the structure is completely different and it will never be the same. And as the song goes on I believe the singer goes on to explain how everyone is being effected by the change while the singer feels as though this is all familiar. "Suck the bottle dry" "touch fingers to the night" someone drinking and going out late at night, "things are different when your young" everything changes. "Night are growing cold, faces growing old. And there is nothing you can do" Everything is still changing and there is nothing anyone can do about it for they don't have the power to do it so they will follow along with those who control the structure. But this all my own opinion. |

| Innerpartysystem – This Empty Love Lyrics

I don't know if this is right but here is my two cents. I think it's about a guy who gets drunk (at a party probably) and has a one night stand with a girl. Thats why he says "I'm in a room and there is something wrong./I cant remember how I got here at all." And then the real kicker is that he is already in a relationship with another girl because then songs says in the pov of the onenight stand girl "you tell her that you love her so then how could you love me?/Don't make promises you can't keep." The "her" implies that there is another women out there. Narrators "girlfiend" maybe? Then it constantly repeats "this empty love leaves us alone" implying that sex alone is nothing. It doesn't establish a good relationship so the one-night affair is nothing. So as the song goes I believe the "girlfirend" finds out about the one-night stand and leaves him because at the end it says "I'm in a room and there is something wrong./No one is lying next to me/At all." in the end the guy got nothing. He made a mistake and he paid the price. Most innerpartysystem songs, to me, seem to have an underlying message that teahces everyone a lesson. Here, the wrongs of lust and partying. In the song "everybody is the same" the problem of everyone wanting to be "perfect" and so on and so forth. But those are just my oppinions.
