This song means to me; Guy (singer) was in a relationship with a girl, a girl who he didn't treat as well as he should've. Maybe age, or timing wasn't right. Now they have accepted each other back into one another's lives and she's is friend, whom he would never hurt intentionally the second time around. Any relationship is derived from friendship first and maybe now that they are friends, he would like for her to give him another shot at love. |

Amazing song. Dug it in 2006 and still do... My interpretation of this song... The club represents a situation of uncomfortability. Nervous and tense and awkward, about his surroundings. He is in a relationship in which he is into this person, but she leaves him wondering/guessing if she feels the same way about him. He doesn't want to seem desperate. If it were meaningful, it wouldn't be pretentious it would just flow. The intensity she gives with a glance, will surely match that in the bedroom, and he is struck but not quite paralyzed...because his feelings for her are still surface, but he knows they can become deeper and if he gives in to her, he thinks she'll love him and leave him and he'll be left with his heart in his hand. He fears rejection, so he hopes that this uncomfortable situation will be shut in 3 weeks = the club...so he doesn't have to endure the girls mysteriousness and the attraction he has for her, because he is inevitably afraid of what she could do to him, if he surrenders and gives him...she may hurt him. What he's feelings isn't fun at all, so he should just stay home, where he doesn't have to put himself in the position of seeing this girl...so he doesn't have to deal with the intensity and the physicalities of wanting her as much as he does. He wants her to show him something, give him a hint that she wants him too...but she is standing still. It's all about the chase, the game...in new love. |

Song rocks!!! I saw them in concert, Tim did awesome. Meaning of this song is fairly self-explanatory. Here's my interpretation... Guy is still in love with a past love. After all this time, and dating he still compares all others to this one past love. He knows she has moved on and he should too but somehow cannot. So much time has past that he starts to think why is he still addicted to this one love...she must've put a spell on him. The best relationship he has had was with this one past love. He keeps tumbling backwards, because he cannot seem to get this person out of his head or get a relationship that was just as meaningful. Did he build this relationship up to more than it really was? Hence, why he states "still it seems so real to me" |

I would have to strongly disagree with previous comments. This song means, well at least to me; that this girl took caution when it came to love, so she didn't completely open herself up to him. She was careless with their relationship, she left. Now that time has went by she realizes what they had was real...she was happy and now she's broken because they are no longer together...she took him for granted. She says I know empty promises will wear, she was the one at fault not him. He's on his own and is doing well without her, so in a sense he is embarrassing her on his own because he has moved on and is doing well without her, while she is looking back like why did I ever walk away from that relationship and is upset and her scars are open (her walls finally came down). He won!!!! Relationships are hard and she couldn't deal, she was weak and he was strong. Now she's saying he can tell everyone how she wants him back because she knows what real love is now and it was what they had when they were together but it's too late (she realized too late) and he could respond IMPOSSIBLE...he'll never take her back. |
