The Buggles – Video Killed the Radio Star Lyrics 14 years ago
There's something wonderfully melancholy about this song! As much as I love it, it always makes me a little teary-eyed. :) I think it's the beautiful solo by Linda Jardim towards the end of the song. Her voice just soars: "You are...the radio star." Gorgeous.

Actually it's VTR not VCR. VTR=Video Tape Recorder which was a system used in studio to record the output of a TV camera after the switch from live to video. The VCR (Video CASSETTE Recorder) came later. Video tape doesn't have to be in a cassette, it's often spooled (such as in a VTR machine.)

The Contessas – This Is Where I Came In Lyrics 14 years ago
I absolutely love this song, and The Contessas original recording. This was one of Jimmy Webb's earliest compositions. Suzanne Weir was the lead singer (with her four-octave range), with Suzy Horton, Sharon Johnson and the late Alyce Wheaton providing the gorgeous backing vocals. The meaning of the song is pretty obvious, a love affair is ending, and the narrator sees this as a sad pattern in her life. She feels detached as if she's watching it as one watches a movie. Beautiful song and recording, definitely seek it out. The later version by Thelma Houston is amazing as well.

Lisa Loeb – Someone You Should Know Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this song is cautionary tale about looking outside of yourself for happiness.
You're talking so loud/You bury the sound/Of your heart that's singing out...
The person you need, the person you want to be...is you. You're already there. If you just look at yourself, you'll find you're so much more worthy than you give yourself credit for. That's just my take, of course, but I think the lyrics reflect that. Wonderful song by a wonderful artist.
