I love this song! What it says to me is that once you realize that you have a choice, it's not so bad. I felt that way after my ex-boyfriend dumped me and I realized I was better off without him because he had some control over me before and he abused me. I felt set free after I realized how lucky I was to be without him. I had a choice and I began to live life for me and now I am happily married to my best friend. |

I also thought the first verse was about abortion, but other people's interpretations of the song do make sense. I think she should have tried to word the lyrics better so nobody would think it was about abortion if it's not, but maybe it never crossed her mind.
