This song just spoke to me RIGHT away. Probably because It's exactly how I feel. Overall, the song is about believing in God but you are getting judged and people aren't respecting what you believe and you start to feel lonely because nobody around you is acting how you do and then due to all the judgment you start to question what you believe. The Paramore song, Turn It Off, is the result of this song. Breaking it down, this is how I interpret the song. I can't make my own decisions Or make any with precision Well, maybe you should tie me up So I don't go where you don't want me ^^^ Right there she's saying "can't make my own decisions" sarcastically. So basically in that one part she says that this person is acting like she can't make her own decisions and that maybe they should keep her with them so she can't do things they don't like. You say that I've been changing That I'm not just simply aging Yeah, how could that be logical? Just keep on cramming ideas down my throat ^^^ Here she is saying that this person is telling her that she is changing and It's not from growing up or maturing. And they keep trying to give her ideas but she doesn't want them. You don't have to believe me But the way I, way I see it Next time you point a finger I might have to bend it back Or break it, break it off Next time you point a finger I'll point you to the mirror ^^^ Right here she says that this person (or people) doesn't have to believe what she believes. But they should respect what she believes. They are judging her-- "pointing fingers" and she says she'll point the 'finger' back to them. If God's the game that you're playing Well, we must get more acquainted Because it has to be so lonely To be the only one who's holy ^^^ Here she is hypothetically speaking to anyone. She's basically saying if you believe in God and you're a Christian they you both should get more acquainted because she feels lonely to be the only one who's holy. The only one who believes in God. It's just my humble opinion But it's one that I believe in You don't deserve a point of view If the only thing you see is you ^^^ She's saying that what she believes is her own opinion and that she strongly believes in it. She feels that these people (or person) shouldn't tell her their point of view if they think theirs is the only one that's right. This is the last second chance (I'll point you to the mirror) I'm half as good as it gets (I'll point you to the mirror) I'm on both sides of the fence (I'll point you to the mirror) Without a hint of regret I'll hold you to it ^^^ Here she says that she's feeling two things. "I'm on both sides of the fence" -- meaning she believes but now she also doesn't believe at the same time. Due to all the criticism and judgment. |
