| I think some people are taking the last line too seriously. My guess is the song ends how it starts for musical purposes not lyrical ones. It doesn't mean that she has to still love him or it still brings her down. MILLIONS of songs end with the first line of the song because it is catchy... kind of like how comedians throw old punch lines from the beginning of the show off randomly in the middle of a joke. This is truthfully one of the oldest musical tricks in the book...it makes you remember the song and is uber catchy. Of course this is just my opinion but I challenge you to listen to random songs from any musical era and any genre...you'll be surprised how many end with the the beginning. (I.E. Lisa Loeb-Stay) | |

| Very fresh look on the song but don't you think the lyrics would be something like "I feel like rewinding it" rather than "I don't feel like stopping it"? Although you mentioned your interpretation of "too bad you're making me decide" that would actually be a weird line as well in my opinion. | |

Now I can't be sure because I really don't have the time to read all of these replies but most of you are saying that he puts her down or treats her bad...the song doesn't ever say that at all. The truth is we don't know why she wants to leave it could be many reasons. What I do know is he is trying to get her back the entire fight/song not just at the end and it is not her imagination. Like most fights they aren't listening to each other... she is only hearing what she wants to. He is trying to tell her he needs her and wants her to stay...that if she could just open her eyes she can see how hard he is fighting for her. "And you say I only hear what I want to I don't listen hard, I don't pay attention to the distance that you're running To anyone, anywhere, I don't understand if you really care, I'm only hearing negative No, no, no" She is the one that is "running away" and "wont stay." Once she leaves I think she actually starts putting together everything that was said during the fight and actually thinking rationally about all the good times and how in love she is...she then realizes she made a mistake. No one thinks rationally during a fight...NO ONE! |
