No he rapes her. In his fury he realizes all she cares about is sex, and rapes her to make her happy but make her learn a lesson at the same time. The part where he describes "Now watch this, we're smacking flesh I'm sure you don't even care But with your eyelids sewn back to your brows This leaves you forced to stare" is when he is raping her and forcing her to watch. |

The entire song is way to long to describe in enough detail to understand, so I'll describe the ending. "With a wire wrapped around his neck Tightly tied to a tree There he stood on the top of the cliff With his inanimate life above the sea He drinks his virulent drink And sets himself on fire Pulls the trigger through the mid-air Misses his head, and snaps the wire Now choking and strangling in the water His body begins to sink Not only did that put out the flames But he regurgitated his drink This wasn't the worse thing that could happen... yes it is We're dying slowing again We're dying slowly again?" This is a narration of how the man is killing himself. The screaming you hear in the backround is the woman crying and screaming in agony and the man himself crying and screaming. She is screaming and crying because he rapes her. After that he forces her to watch by taping her eyelids open, or sewing them open or something along those lines. "Now watch this, we're smacking flesh I'm sure you don't even care But with your eyelids sewn back to your brows This leaves you forced to stare" He ties her up and forces her to watch him kill himself to prove how hurt he really is. He drinks poison, prepares to hang himself, and loads a gun, and stands at the top of a cliff. With his lover behind him screaming, presumebly telling him to stop, he finally decides to do it. He sets himself on fire and jumps off the cliff, and goes to shoot himself in the head to be sure he dies no matter what. But this is when it goes horribly wrong. He misses the shot and actually snaps the cord he was using to hang himself and begins to plumet into the ocean. He drops the gun and the wire causes him to vomit the poison he drank, and the water douses the fire. He writhes in the water in agony as he chokes and drowns in the water, dying slowly and painfully. At the end when Matt sings "We're dying slowly again.... We're dying slowly again?" is the man realizing he is going to die very slowly and painfully, but then realizes he already died when he saw his lover cheating on him. The part Stop! Rewind! Watch them die! Stop! Rewind! Watch them die! Stop! Rewind! Watch them die! Stop! Rewind! Watch them die! Stop! Rewind! Watch them die! (Oh don't you love to play it back, and watch it all over?) Stop! Rewind! Watch them die! (Oh don't you love to play it back, and watch it all over?) is when the man is rewinding and watching the tape of him killing the man who had sex with his lover when she was cheating. The song goes back in forth from past to future. Hopefully this clears up some of the song's lyrics. The meaning itself of the song is about betrayal. |
