@[gifthorselyrics:34578] @[gifthorselyrics:34578] yeah I agree with others. Rush was not an "open door" for Neil. He busted his ass to be good enough to audition for them. If that was my "open door", guess what? I would not have been hired! The reason why he was hired was because he put a LOT of work into what he did. He had a love of music and a love of playing drums. He didn't just walk into the job! Truly lifee works like that. The more you put into it, the more you get out of it. Lay around on the floor, do nothing, and see what happens to you. If he didn't make it with Rush, or even in music, he still would have been successful. He had the aptitude to be successful. Even if he stayed at that shop in St Catherine's with his dad he would have been successful. |

| Rush – The Analog Kid Lyrics | 7 years ago |
| RUSH has some pretty deep songs. This one is deep, but it is also super simple. The meaning is in the title. Analog Kid. It is about a kid growing up in an analog world. If CDs were around when you were a little kid you are not an analog kid... Life was simple. The biggest things you worried about was laying in a field on a sunny day and dreaming about a girl you love. Long before anyone ever thought about 24 hour news or social media. | |

Possible the greatest line ever: Cast in this unlikely role Ill equipped to act With insufficient tact One must put up barriers To keep oneself intact This was my theme after graduating college for engineering and working for a big company for the first time. I felt like I was cast in the wrong role, without the proper preparation to do it effectively... Especially after working construction for 7 years! |

"Return of the Prince" is probably my favorite part of any RUSH song ever. I just love the fade in of the guitar and then the overlay kicks in and it has such a great feel. The lyrics are so uplifting, then the solo at the end just COMPLETELY captures the spirit of freedom and joy. Love the last solo, so melodic and not more than it needs to be, just perfect. Love the 'evil prism eye' reference to Suaron as well! Nice work Alex! |

| Rush – Available Light Lyrics | 14 years ago |

LOVE THIS ONE! It all comes down to the very last lyric. "I'll go with the wind, I'll stand in the light". If you sit and wait for the world to come to you, it never will. You have to move with the wind to find opportunity. If you stand still the sun will circle you and the shadows will cover most of the light. By going with the wind and standing in the light you can experience the most that the world has to offer. |

Yeah, this song is straight up about love and the risks / complications involved. Come on, when you first meet someone you are just imagining who you think they are. You WILL come to find that they are not that perfect person that you hoped and imagined they were. In the last part it states that love can change us but never quite enough. If you fall in love with someone and intend on changing them, it will not work. They will always be who they are for the most part. :) Illusions illusions are painfully shattered. When he says this he is not just repeating himself. We each try to put up an illusion of how we want to be perceived. Everyone has their own illusion about who we really are. Sometimes you can never see through both of these to learn who someone IS! |

| Rush – Afterimage Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Weirdalok, your story is one if the reasons that I love RUSH so very much. Their music means so many things to so many people. The lyrics are so well written, thought out and profound that everyone can put an image to them that they can relate to. I can relate personal experiences to almost all of their stuff. It makes it SO much more emotional to listen to. | |
| Genesis – Home By The Sea Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Everyone is forgetting an important undertone in the song. As soon as he enters the house he hears "Welcome to the Home by the Sea" from out of the darkness. In the stanza after he says "then as one they signed and the moaned" he says "Before the time when we first heard 'welcome to the Home by the Sea'". So the man breaking into the house was not the first to do so. He is the newest victim and will become like the others. Now there is one more ghost in the house waiting for another victim so he can relive his life to someone who is 'living'. | |

This song is really just about the complications of love. You have to take risks when you reveal how you feel to someone. There is that chance that they don't feel the same way and that can be painful. "So often fragile power turns to scorn and ridicule." Very often relationships start out gentle and loving and end so very terribly. |

Reasoning is partly insane. Image just an eyeless game. Love it! Reasoning is partly made up by the letters in insane. And someone already pointed out the one about image. Truly love this song! |

This is one of my favorites from one of my favorite albums. This song is certainly about teenage suicide. The lyrics really are not that ambiguous if you read them. The last part seems to really capture that. No hero in your tragedy No daring in your escape No salutes for your surrender Nothing noble in your fate Christ, what have you done? I really think this has to do with taking the easy way out and leaving all of your friends and family to carry it for the rest of their lives. The last lyric "Christ, what have you done" is not asking Christ what he has done it is an exclamation. Christ! What have you done! |
