This song is about an addiction, at least that is how I take it. The lines "When I get home I swear I'm going to change my ways" or "I say all the words but lack a real solution"... This sound to me like the people that have addictions, they know exactly what to say to and will do whatever it takes to get their fix. This to me is reaffirmed by the line "You got to give me the strength that got me, To get me by, to get me high" I think this is titled if I fall because he knows the fall is coming sometime. That's my take, I don't really know what Rob had in mind! |

| To me this song is about a very narcissistic person. That why he said things like- all I ever think about is myself and also the fact that he seems to feel that everyone else gets strung out but he only gets high...I think this is why it is titled You and I and I, clearly one I is not enough because the relationship is all about him. His narcisisim is coming between them in the relationship and it is the distance between them. | |

I feel that this song is mostly about the lie that is love. The Guy has realized that A) You can still lose even if you really try and B)Everybody's trusting in the heart Like the heart don't lie. I feel like this attacks the idea that their is some foolproof plan that prevents people from getting hurt or from failing. To me this is more about the general message that the world offers us about love than an specific relationship. So in the end we might just be better off cutting our losses and just taking what we can get and settling for the basic need of having someone to cling to at night, that will leave in the morning, because at least that is certain. Rob is amazing, I wish I could ask him about all his songs! |

I always assumed that this song was about the Girl being the one that was the lying, false, pretentious type and finally the Guy can't stand it. The line that really suggest this to me is "Don't think that I can take another empty moment" He has been going with it and faking smiles and is pretending too, but I feel the Girl is really deluted and not at all thinking about the eventually downfall of their relationship. In my imagination, the Girl is fake and the Guy see that this relationship is not going to last..."It's not enough just to be sorry, Don't think that I could take another talk about it" It's over and the Guy isn't going to just sleep like nothings wrong anymore... That's my take anyways. |
