The Beatles – All Together on the Wireless Machine Lyrics 15 years ago
I mean for cry-sakes they didn't even have wireless phones in the beatle years, let along anything they would call "a machine" in the UK. Does he mean flying saucer?

The Beatles – All Together on the Wireless Machine Lyrics 15 years ago
I did some research on this. It seemed that someone hacked into songmeanings.com and added a joke song and lyrics to the beatles song list.

I think it sucks.

U2 – Lady With the Spinning Head Lyrics 15 years ago
The song is about the Queen of Hearts or the Queen of Diamonds. I am not sure which one but I know it is one of the red ones because of the line "She's got the red to put me in the black". "The black" is the same as the black in "black friday", meaning positive financial figures.

If Bono went to Vegas then he would like to win a lot of money.

Speaking of Vegas, did you know that the video for "I Still haven't found what I'm looking for" was shot in downtown Las Vegas? And I don't mean the strip, it was shot more around the Fremont Street area, but in the 80's before they put those huge white canopies up to brighten up the 'hood.

Katy Perry – I Kissed a Girl Lyrics 15 years ago
There is a rumor that Lee Dwyze is going to play this song next week on American Idol.
It kinda will give the song new meaning. I think it might be pretty cool because he is hot and all
and he will win the trophy. Like that one time at school when our field hockey team made it to the quarterfinals of the playoffs and the referees made sure that there was no alcohol in our soda cups because of what happened last year in the snow. I hope I don't have to remind you guys of that. Are you going to see Tommy tonight.??? Give me a call after. XOXOXO - becka

Miley Cyrus – Party in the U.S.A. Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is about how the narrator appreciates that however far away you go within the United States, you are still in the same country and which is bound by a unified spirit of commercial radio.
When she gets of the plane in LA, she is nervous and feels a long way from home. When she hears a certain song on the radio, she recognizes it as one that she has heard from home, and she no longer feels that she is so far away.

The funny thing is, if she went to Canada she would probably hear the same songs too, so maybe they can re-record the song as "Party in North America" or maybe if she heard a U2 song, then it would be similar to a song that she would hear in Europe. So then it would be a "Party in the parts of the world that play the same music that I have heard at home". Maybe.

Another thing with the song is maybe she overdoes the "and a Jay-Z song was on" and "and a Britney song was on" because she kinda repeats it too much, and then when you hear the song over and over it really gets repetitive and I change the station or leave the club that I'm at (even though I paid $20 cover and there is a cute guy there)

Rush – The Spirit Of Radio Lyrics 15 years ago
When you wake up the morning, you might turn on the radio,
and everyday, reliably, you can hear the familiar voices or songs.
As you set out to do your morning activities the radio sets you at ease.

When you get in your car, the stereo is there,
and even though you are by yourself, you have the radio to lift your spirits.
The radio asks nothing in return, and so in many ways, it can be an ideal "friend".

As if by magic, the radio reaches you through the air,
and the price you have to pay is nothing compared to the joy it brings.

As time goes on man has made devices to make music easier to make and reproduce (auto-tune, synthesizers, etc)
So long as the artist maintains his or her integrity, there is no reason not to put these
devices to good use.

However, there are always going to be parties that exploit the technology purely for financial gain
and not for artistic merit. It's up to the listener to determine the difference between art and business or commercialism.

Remember that a lot of the music or programming you hear on the radio is played only because
someone is paying them to pay it.

Billy Joel – This Night Lyrics 15 years ago
Um, The melody isn't from Beethoven's "4th or 6th" (Seriously dude???). It is from the second movement of Piano Sonata No. 8 in C minor, Op. 13, aka Sonata Pathétique.

While Billy Joel credits Beethoven in the liner notes, he never acquired permission or rights from Beethoven's estate. Beethoven's ancestor, Malcolm Beethoven is quoted in the January 1983 Spin magazine on the subject: "I've heard the track, and yes you can see that the melody is derivative of that piano number, but really they are two different songs, so the estate decided not to take legal action". Since the song was never released as a single, there was no way to quantify what damages would be due to the Beethoven's regardless.

Black Sabbath – Heaven And Hell Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is about Ronny "James" Dio and the irony of replacing Ozzy as the front man for Sabbath. "Sing us a song, you're a singer" is the band telling him to sing. But he loved and idolized Ozzy, so replacing him was Heaven *and* Hell. The "Hell"ish part being the fact that his favorite band is without Ozzy, and "Heaven"-ier part being the irony of RJD being the replacement. "It took me quite some time to come to grips with what was going on, so I expressed it in this song". You can see that in the lines "The closer you get to the meaning, The sooner you know that you're dreaming"

Another little bit of H&H trivia: The acoustic outro of the song was also originally intended to be part of the intro. But it had to be cut in order to make the song "more time appropriate for AM radio". I have a demo tape of such a version. But really the way they cut it on the final version is better.
