| She died overdosing on drugs.. I'm not sure but that's probably more tragic for Bert than Cancer.. :/ | |

I understand how u could take it as being about god.. If you're religious then good for you for loving your god.. But seriously? Have some of you ever felt this way about a person? At first I thought yeah, fair play it could be about god if you wanted it to.. but to the people who say "This is definately about god" etc.. just saddens me that you're not open minded about other people's interpretations and I feel deeply sorry for you that you've never been in love and felt what it's like to feel that person is your *everything* (someone that makes life worth living) She said herself on youtube she doesn't actually know the meaning of the song, and it's always changed to her over time - she also recognises the fact some of it doesn't always make sense and it's a little obvious she wrote it when she was 15.. |

I realise this seems to have more than one interpretation to more than one person.. But for me it also hints on letting go of someone. Example: Like someone who thinks the world of someone, but they got dumped and months later is still hung up on them. So the person that left could be seen as the driftwood, and the person that got dumped is finally able to move on. You know how the person that leaves a relationship for whatever reason still lingers in the other person's life and still wants them to be jealous of their life etc? Maybe the person left behind is finally moving on and gave up caring so the one that left "really didn't think it could happen".. That they are merely driftwood in their eyes now. Hadn't listened to this song since my ex left a few months back, and that's how I feel about her now - guess that's why I had this new look on the song. Just another way to look at it :) |

I've been trying to figure out the lines "Meeting god we stand in line" - "Not alone" and "All Alone" and why it changes to 'all alone' the second time.. I was kind of reluctant at first to go agree that this song is about a break up rather than about suicide as it's a lot about death. HOWEVER it jsut struck me that maybe in relation to a relationship it's about growing old with someone in line to meeting god (Die).. then as the song goes on a the breakup/whatever goes on it changes to meeting god ALL alone.. So yeah, just a thought on that line.. what do others think? |

Wow that's a very deep interpretation, sorry for your loss. You may know that Bert's partner killed herself and their baby and this may be why you can relate to it so closely. I hope you are well, Peace |

| Bert's gf took an overdose, killing herself and their child - sounds like this is exactly what this is about~ | |

| Hey does anyone know the Used? If you do, I'm wondering, could if be about what happened to his girlfriend and the baby he lost with her? - Maybe as though he is blaming himself? Seeing as he had a history of drug addiction and she overdosed.. | |
