I think its about a guy who loves to get fucked up and have sex but its also because he is lonely, insecure and trapped in the world of drugs and sex.
The first verse- he was in a relationship then went and fucked a chinese masseuse ("chinese masseuse comes between us) who had pills, condoms, lube and a vibrator. Or it could also be a threesome with a chinese masseuse (come between us, two lubes, two condoms. Regardless, he is telling us of some of his experiences, which he also does in the third verse.
The second verse about weed- alotta people who take drugs use weed as a comedown remedy so i think thats what he is doing. I agree with what boomerstyle said. Its a warning to keep thinking and using your brain and making sure you still know who you are as a person because getting caught in the life of drugs and sex is a really vicious trap to get out of once your in too far. |

Some heaps good interpretations of the song meaning, its all really interesting to read. This song always gets caught in my head, and since im a hsc student in english studying Blade Runner i'm finiding there are a few parallel themes that arise in this song and the film which is helping me greatly with my assignment, but regardless of this helping with my school work, i still love this song, it hasnt ruined it for me.
And yes i agree with many of you who seem to feel this song is about humanity and our world, how we have to learn for ourselves so "we go backwards, but then forward again". This goes for the individual, town, state, country and world as a whole, regardless of the history we can sometimes go back to past mistakes. |
