The All-American Rejects – She Mannequin Lyrics 15 years ago
K, even though I don't actually know what the writer had in mind when he wrote this, I'd say I like to think of it the same way as calebofroy does. :)

Perfect girl - visit me in my dreams [A girl he loves dreaming about.]
Run away with me tonight [At night when he's asleep is when he can be with her.]
This lasts forever although it seems
That you're not real to me
I don't care [He loves the feeling even though she apparently doesn't exist in waking reality, but he wants her anyway.]

Crystal clear - I see your face [As he's dreaming about her, he sees her so vividly.]
And I know you see me too [Feels like when she's looking at him that there is a real girl looking back at him and not some figment of his imagination.]
You look at me
My heart is race ["is race" sounds a weird way to put it, but I can't say what other words fit here. Anyway, obviously means he's got a fast heartbeat for her.]
Not even real yet
I fall for you [Again, he thinks she's gotta be nonexistent, but he's head over heels for her.]
~~~
The lights are off when we're alone [When the lights are off, it's night when he's asleep and dreaming, and he can he be with her.]
(Wish we were talking on the phone) [Wishes in real life he could talk to her on the phone and hear her voice and know she's real.]
I am still asleep kicking in my sheets
For you [Gets him so agitated that she's not real, but he wants her so bad.]
~~~

K, I'm not going to analyze the whole song since it seems mostly self-explanatory. Anyway, I'd interpret the line "Please turn the lights on" as either he wants to go back to reality so he'll stop dreaming about a girl that's not real, or again, that he wishes in reality she existed.

Ok, I've listened to this song a lot and there is never a "Yes, we were talking on the phone." For all of those particular lines, it's only "Wish we were talking on the phone."

Also it's never "I'm still asleep" it's always "I am still asleep" ---yeah I know the meaning's the same, but I'm just saying what the actual words are.

And in the last stanza, they don't have the line "I am still asleep kicking in my sheets, yeah" at all.

K, done. ^_^
