| This song helped me to look at my own situation from a different point of view and leave my abusive ex boyfriend, so it's clearly very close to my heart. I think this song's message is basically that anyone being abused has strength, they just have to find it and use it. | |

To me, this song is about an experience with a loved one with cancer, but also compared to the bible story. 'Your hair was long when we first met' When he didn't have cancer. 'Samson went back to bed Not much hair left on his head He ate a slice of Wonderbread And went right back to bed' Cancer (and treatment) makes you weak and sick, so Samson is always sleeping. Radiotherapy/chemotherapy makes you lose your hair. He is too sick to eat anything, but wonderbread is mild on stomachs so it is good to eat. 'I cut his hair myself one night' Hair falls out unevenly, it is a metaphor to Samson and Delilah because she cuts it while he's weak with cancer, and Samson got weak when his hair was cut. But it can be interpreted in really any way, this is just the way i first saw it. |
