This song seems to me like the time when Coheed and Cambria get tired of the fighting and such and get their memories wiped. The "it's over" and the sudden silence and this being a prequel and the last song of the album and yeah. Also, it's a very disappointing song. Lacking in epic. |

Well, this is with very little doubt my favorite song on the album. I see this song as Cambria being off somewhere else, possibly lost on a mission, but for whatever reason far from Coheed. So he's emoing about, and has an epiphany about what Cambria thinks and how he feels about her. And then he goes to sleep and mulls over it some more. That alarm-sounding bit is his alarm going off, distorted because this song is probably taking place in Coheed's distorty old mind. And then those bell sounding things about half-way through the song are the alarms of the KBI base going off because Coheed is breaking out to go see Cambria. He's in such a hurry because he has to go and confess his love in the rain while both are crying and because she's telepathically reaching out to him because she's in trouble. The way I see YotBR's story puts Cambria as a helpless woman in need of rescuing far (Ha!) too often. Far far too often. |

I see this song as Cambria being rendered helpless by someone, likely Ryan, Mayo, or Veilar, and Coheed going batshit insane and pulling out the gun arm. I assume at this point he didn't know he had it and is at first confused by how impractical it seems. "How can I gain from another when the other goes?" He needs that hand, y'know (Part of me tells me this doesn't add up because he should too busy being really pissed off at whoever has Cambria on the ropes). Anyways, he goes batshit insane but can't do anything because if he tries something the other guy will kill Cambria. And that's no fun at all. And then he pulls out some sort of Eleventh Hour Superpower for When Skeletons Live and they get their memory wiped in The Black Rainbow. |
