I personally think it's less religious and more along the lines of him being disappointed that artists are selling out more and more and just writing what's Popular "I think it's kind of sad how we're singing the same songs" that's probably a more accurate translation than bringing up religion when it's probably not even clear that anyone in the band is even religious. I don't mean to sound anti-religion far from it it's just not always about a religous belief "don't you see what this means to me" as an artist the lyricist is passionate about his his art and the art laid out by his predecessors and that it's being cheapened by so many untrue groups "oh my god there must be something else to write the two best words to sum up my life" here he's more than likely making a statement about how he feels that everything has been written and is frustrated about the lack of originality in music and as for the lyrics "It will make you say oh god why was I wrong I missed all the meaning when it was spelled out all along" it's probably a more geared towards the realization that what's popular isn't artistically right or even good |
