| Against Me! – FuckMyLife666 Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
Laura said in an interview that their friend who had died often said "fuckmylife666". I think that brings some sort of a different vibe to the song, maybe the person being talked to here is that friend. The line "Where would we be without all the distance? You know I'm already just a skeleton" could suggest the friend aspect, though the skeleton being not the one who died but the one who still lives and has changed, the skeleton being their old self. The whole song definitely has a feeling that the questions are being asked from someone who the narrator hasn't seen (or been) in a long time or feels distanced from. There also seems to be a reference to being in a changing relationship "I never wanna say that I regret it, never wanna say that we grew apart and never wanna say that the feelings changed" but I don't think the relationship is ending, just needs a lot of will to make it through. |

| Ani DiFranco – You Each Time Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I think in general the song is about temptation. How in the beginning of a relationship you have that "pull" to the other person. Then when time passes you start to wonder if there might be someone else, and every time you feel the temptation to cross the line you weigh your options and either end up with the one you are with, or just give in. As Ani says: the answer to each moment must be yes, and the question can you live with that becomes the test. On the other hand you ponder if there could be something better, someone better, but still can't let go of the one you're with. It's just the same person you end up to each time. |

| Tegan and Sara – On Directing Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I guess it's just about relationships, how the other person has the chance to either break you down or take you as you are and I always thought that the song was a cute way of saying that don't mess around with me, probably because of the "go steady with me" and "hold on to me" parts. I've also been wondering that are the words related to actual film directing in the song by accident. I guess not but you can find at least "I lose my grip, I lose my focus" and "Get the cuts you need" from the song that are terms of film making also... | |
| Tegan and Sara – I Can't Take It Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This is one of those songs that I want to hear when I feel like I'm the only person in the entire world. I listened to this song a lot when I had absolutely no idea what to do with my life after graduation and I have to say that I really found comfort because it felt like someone else had been in that situation, too. I feel like the whole song is about feeling miserable and stuck with one's own life/love/whatever it may be, that things are starting to get unbearable "I can't take it" and the phrase "don't move so slow" is meant for the "I" person as a reminder that it's time to do something about the situation. |
