| MGMT – We Don't Care Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I'm thinking that both "We Care" and "We Don't Care" are really just about getting high or tripping. I'm still working on piecing this theory together, but it seems to make sense so far. Read the lyrics for "We Care" first. Everything in that song seems like it's about getting high except I'm still not sure what it is that they care about or what that line even means. I'm pretty confused about what this song (We Don't Care) means, though. But I'm pretty sure they're talking about getting high again. For example the line "we thought we left home, but we never departed" is probably talking about tripping. And the "poison in the air" is probably smoke. Maybe they smoked salvia and tripped?? But I'm also thinking that maybe the songs are a progression. Like since "We Care" is at the beginning of the album, it's talking about them getting high and being excited about it, and then they put "We Don't Care" later in the album, so it's about them coming down from their high and maybe sitting at home on the couch with "poison in the air" and now they just don't care about anything because they're high. I don't really ever fully understand what MGMT is talking about, but I'm huge a stoner so I like to think I kind of see things from their point of view. |
