Some songs are beautiful just because they express ugly, tragic things so well. This is, unfortunately, the perfect song for me this weekend. As someone who deals with depression, I can tell you this is practically an x-ray of the depressed mindset (at least as I've experienced it)...particularly if you've just lost someone to cancer, which I did this week. Somebody mentioned that they thought the part "my tongue is twisted, I'm more dead than alive" sounded like the side-effects of anti-depressants...could be, but some of us actually have trouble speaking when we're depressed enough, even if there's no medication involved...and feeling more dead than alive is more or less what a depressive episode is all about. |
