Patrick Stump – Love, Selfish Love Lyrics 14 years ago
As I mentioned on another song, I love Patrick's ability to point out society's flaws. This song is all about that.

"And all my friends go to the ends of the earth for secrets they don't wanna keep."
Everyone seems to think that they need to know everyone else's business. Gossip, gossip, gossip. People can't get enough of it. They want to know all your dirty little secrets, but they don't want to keep them to themselves, they want to be the one who gets to broadcast it.

"It's like the whole world is jumping off a bridge and you don't want to be the one standing on the ledge."
People are sheep. No one knows how to make their own decisions or just be their own person anymore. People are doing that ? Well, you'd better do it too.

Those are just the two lines from the song that really stand out to me. n_n Love it !

I completely agree, especially with your very last point.

Patrick Stump – As Long As I Know I'm Getting Paid Lyrics 14 years ago
Patrick said on Twitter: "As Long" is about greedy assholes from the perspective of one.

Honestly, I look at this song like most artists just don't care about music anymore, money is the only thing that matters. I love Patrick's ability to point out society's negatives.

Fall Out Boy – Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying (Do Your Part to Save the Scene and Stop Going to Shows) Lyrics 15 years ago
This is my interpretation of the song. I doubt I am completely correct, and I may be way off. Just what I get from it:

This has been said so many times that I'm not sure if it matters
[Rumors. There have been so many things said about the band, and after a while they all lose their meaning. None of it seems to matter anymore.]

We never stood a chance
And I'm not sure if it matters
[A lot of people out there don't like them. They're written off as some emo band, and a lot of people won't bother giving them a chance.]

If you are the shores, I am the waves begging for big moons
I’m mailing letters to addresses in a ghost town
[I'm not exactly sure how to interpret these lines. The second line could mean that they are writing/making music but they don' have a very big fan base. They could be referring to their fan base as a ghost town ?]

I know this hurts, it was meant to
Your secret's out and the best part is it isn't even a good one
And it's mind over (you don't) matter
["Your secret's out" could be referring to the little things people find out about them and how they blow them out of proportion. It's not a big secret, it's not really a good one, but it's made out to be a big deal anyways.
"It's mind over you don't matter" is a twist on "mind over matter", trying to do something difficult. They could be talking about how they always have to ignore what is said about them, and believe that the critics don't matter.]

This has been said so many times that I'm not sure if it matters
But it must be said again that all us boys are just screaming
Into microphones for attention
Because we're just so bored
[Again, this is just about what critics say about them. "It's not music, they're just screaming" sort of thing.]

I never knew that you would pick it apart, oh
I'm falling apart to songs about hips and hearts
[They wanted to make music for the sake of making music, they didn't think about people picking apart their songs, criticizing them, tearing them down. A lot of song contain the words "hips" and "hearts", and so he's just saying that all this criticizing over him music is starting to get to him, he's "falling apart".]

I used to obsess over living,
Now I only obsess over you
[I see this as a way of saying "I started out just wanting to make music for the sake of it. Now it's become something I do for other people. I'm trying to make music that other people are going to like, and I obsess over what people want to hear, rather than enjoying myself."]

Tell me you'd like boys like me better
In the dark lying on top of you
This has been said so many times that I'm not sure if it matters
[I think this pretty much speaks for itself, but .. It's not always about people appreciating the music. "He's hot, so I'm his biggest fan", type deal. Most anybody would love to sleep with someone famous, even if they don't care for what they do.]

From day one I talked about getting out,
But not forgetting about,
How my worst fears are letting out.
He said why put a new address
On the same old loneliness,
When breathing just passes the time
Until we all just get old and die?
Now talking's just a waste of breath,
And living's just a waste of death!
And why put a new address
On the same old loneliness?
And this is you and me, and me and you,
Until we got nothing left!
[Genius poem. It's pretty much summing up some more of what was said in the song, as well as making a point (in my opinion) that life is short, so don't waste it for other people and get living for yourself.]

Again, my interpretation could be way off. It probably is. This is just how I've always seen the song.
Also, I love Fall Out Boy. I'm probably a little too obsessed with them, so don't take any of this as me saying that Fall Out Boy has terrible music or anything like that. I'm just pointing out that there are people out there who see Fall Out Boy certain ways, and how this song is reflecting on that and their feelings (or Pete's) towards it.
