This song reminds me of a mother's love for her child. How she's willing to accept the child no matter what he looks like, or how to society rejects the child. Since it is about Kala's feelings for Tarzan. It's like Kala's reassuring Tarzan that no matter what the other gorilla's say, she loves him and will take care of him. <3

To me it seems like he's singing about himself; saying that he can be "obnoxious" and "bitter" to the one he loves, but in reality he depends on the other party more than anything. And he feels that the world would end without them. Perhaps like a person who is very bad at expressing his love and only ends up hurting the other party.

I personally feel that it's about a person who has changed himself. Probably from a pessimist to an optimist. He's looking at life in a new light and is beginning to understand that worrying is pointless as life is unpredictable. And he's asking the people who have known the old him to "really" look at the new him. A better person, who can help others. But, that's just how I see this song. |
