| Jimmy Barnes – Working Class Man Lyrics

A true Aussie classic, and when sung by Jimmy, it's almost a religious experience.
Adopted as an Aussie blue-collar anthem.
But it most certainly was not written with the "Aussie Battler" in mind. Written by Jonathan Cain, an American, keyboardist with Journey. Cain probably wouldn't know an Aussie Battler if he fell over him.
Still, a great song, performed brilliantly by Barnes. |

What a great song. I love the lyric:
"I am lighting matches for the rescue
Some are candles, some are fuses"
The dichotomy. The realization that, even with the best of intentions, things can blow up in your face. Or, sometimes thing need to be destroyed to move forward. Hopeful, fatalistic and cynical all at the same time.

Seems like the song is about a man spending a night with an underage girl, then getting sent to jail for it. |

There's something about this song. I can't place it, but it hits my ear like a great pop song. Love it. |
