U2 – Cedars Of Lebanon Lyrics 11 years ago
"In some ways they will mind you" means (pardon my french) they're gonna give more of a shit about you than your friends will. At least, that's what I understand from the overall tone of the song.

I actually really like how the song closes, very different, very cold. Jarring for such a warm album.

Coldplay – Atlas Lyrics 12 years ago
This explanation really spoke to me, I see the song as relevant outside of the frame of the Hunger Games. I too have struggled through years of depression and have considered self-harm and suicide, etc. To me this song seems to sing directly to those experiences, ("I'll carry your world…and all your hurt"). I read it now, as I am recovering from those low times, as a survivor singing the song. The singer has made it through the worst; now they have the strength to "carry your world". Here's a brilliant remix of the song with orchestration in the background, makes it even larger and more epic in my humble opinion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7JP6jlaxpTI

Lauren Aquilina – King Lyrics 12 years ago
This is about mental illness, specifically depression, methinks. "…the monsters inside your head"… "self-doubt", "sadness" etc. Very affecting.

U2 – Ultraviolet (Light My Way) Lyrics 14 years ago
I think that this is a romantic love song AND a song to God. He's singing to a woman he cant live without and in whom he's placed faith to guide him through the tough times. In short, he's deifying his lover, although, from what I can infer from the lyrics, she's just as human as he is. To him, she is all around him, invisible, ever-present, kind of like ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Like God. She's always there for him. The verses seem to evoke temptation, sorrow, and confusion. In the chorus he calls on his lover and his god to guide him through the uncertainty. It seems to me to be the absolute climax of Achtung Baby.

Radiohead – The Bends Lyrics 15 years ago
You guys all have some pretty nice ideas, and I agree with whoever said that they really dislike when somebody makes a useless post like "this is a really nice song, i like it alot". So I won't do that, even though I agree that it's pretty kickass. :)

Divers get the bends when they come up too fast; the pressure in their bodies doesn't get a chance to equalize to the water's pressure as they come up higher and higher. "The Bends", as Radiohead's second album, might have elevated the band to a greater height than they would have liked, with such songs as "High and Dry", "Fake Plastic Trees" (which might be the most beautiful song I've ever had the fortune to hear) and "Street Spirit (Fade Out)".
At least that's what I gather. Though OK Computer and Kid A and their 2000s albums brought them to higher and higher acclaim, this album's popularity and acclaim must've somehow come as a shock to a band just starting out. It might also be talking about "Creep"'s popularity. It follows the same idea; that they have come up too fast in too short a time. I know that "My Iron Lung" on this album responds directly to the conflicts Radiohead had with Creep's popularity.
Anyway, that's my two cents. "Planet Telex" and "Fake Plastic Trees" are my faves off this one.
Also, I always found it interesting that the bends is a water-related "illness" and that "High and Dry" is the song directly afterwards. It always seemed weird that the two should be together. As far as I understand, being left high and dry means being left stranded or in a tight situation; maybe kinda like Radiohead has been left after they've "contracted" the bends. Just a thought.
