A twinge is a "sharp, localized pain". "It wasn't much, I never meant to get lost" "Forever we'll just lay here" "Countdown the hours" Could this be about the moment of a sudden or unexpected death? |

| Rise Against – Wait For Me Lyrics | 14 years ago |

After I seen those liner notes about the "Eating animals" in the lyrics book I got an idea of this song about, well, eating animals. Some say that animals see in black and white. In the first verse I see a cow or some other livestock waiting in a field. It's alone because it has no real way of communicating so all it can to is think. It's watched others led into the slaughterhouse and even though he's still here, the others stood in the same spot. I think the rest of the song states that the speaker (humans in general) have also stood in the same position in the beginning of time, being no more than animals like everyone else. He's saying to wait for humans to realize that animals have just as many rights as we do and "take off our crowns." I can't fit the rest of the song into this meaning except for that line "time to hear the back door slam...a sound to this day I can't forget." I can see a young boy running up to a shed on a farm as his father leads a cow into it and slams the door. The boy stands there in suspense as he hears a gunshot. That would be the moment that the speaker decides never to eat animals again, "his sight goes black and grey" as in he now feels equal with animals. I don't know, tell me how it sounds |

| Anberlin – Hello Alone Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Just recently I got the impression that this was about war. Not war in the political sense but rather what it does to the people involved whether it be the soldiers or military families: ("Is this where the interstate ends? In coastal towns like this Waiting for my world to cave under We seem to invent ourselves In places left unkown If only hope could find me out") Here I see soldiers in the midst of war stranded in a third world country. It's a desolate area, the interstate is an empty road that runs along the shoreline. Their numbers are low and they're waiting for the enemy to find them. Their "world will cave under" in a "place left unknown" meaning it's war torn and isolated. They've lost all hope of survival. Same with the prechorus, they're thinking "Is this the end of everything we've known? Is this the end of everything I am" narrating how much war has changed their lives. The chorus seems to me like the transition from the soldier to the family. "Is anybody out there..." part can refer to the family crying out for someone to help their husband/wife/father/mother soldier, or the soldier themselves begging for relief. "The coldest winters thrive" can be explained by how the winter is the holiday season and that's usually the hardest time for families to be apart. (Depression is the unholy ghost In the coastal towns ahead. Though I know a thousand names I seem my only friend) The soldiers are depressed; they don't want to continue a long war yet they've been trained to press on. They know a thousand names; they know their fellow soldiers names, their family, friends, maybe civilians, enemy targets' names yet they are in dangerous territory and they can only trust themselves. the "I've got the gun" part seems like suicide or murder plot. Or maybe it's a metaphor for "I've got the motivation, now all I need is the means to do it." Then of course the "Are you ever coming home" line refers to the family longing for their loved one to return home safely. And because they're Anberlin the line "From a lesser known I'm here and there's hope" is the family and the soldier trusting in God to get them through the hard times. I don't know where it came form but I think it's an interesting interperatation. |

| It's definately one of those songs that could be taken both ways. But chances are that TFK would write something about God rather that relationships. | |

| Anberlin – Reclusion Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
It's interesting that everyone here has associated the darkness in the song as murder. I see that it may be also somehting else- suicide and regret maybe? so here's some parts that i'll interperet. "There's someone inside me that softly kills everyone around They don't know they're dead to me cause intent never makes a sound" Depression is what comes to mind here. Softly killing everyone would be ignoring or becoming passive to people, which unlike physically killing which can be loud and messy, would be with silence which is soft sounding. Of course the people don't know they're dead because only this one person know his intent in his mind. "All along they found us strangled, lovers have learned from slower hands With these eleven minutes I could teach you what I am" This is a very vague part. I actually do see murder in this statement, where as strangling is literal and slower hands means wrapping around a lovers neck as in a affectionate way only to strangle them. Weird, but that's what I get. The eleven minutes could just be a poetical way of presenting a short time period. "Sick as all the secrets you deny". This looks like a third person narrative of the person in the verses. The secrets are sins which are sick in one sense and are making this person sick physically and emotionally by hiding them. "Sins like skeletons are so very hard to hide". I get that eventually peolple are going to learn your secrets. After killing someone it's hard to cover it up because eventually you're going to be caught through some kind of evidence. "There's an art in seclusion, production in depression If a stranger turns up missing, this song is my confession" This is where I see suicide. seclusion and depression often lead to suicide. The art of seclusion is shutting everyone out. Production in depression is the slow decline of the emotional state. The stranger is Stephen cause in this song he secludes himself so that nobody really knows him anymore. He's also a stranger to himself as mentioned later in the song by saying "the mask is growing heavy but I've forgottern who's beneath". So he turns up mussing because he kills himself. "Tell the tales of the trail of dead, lovers learn from slower hands Losing self in myself, inner demons make demands" "Losing self..." I think is internal seclusion which is the final stage before suicide- losing control of yourself due to the depression, or inner demons. There was a dark tone to this whole album really, and I see this song kinda as contradicting the Unwinding Cable Car which is about someone helping someone else who's suffering from the same situation in this song. |

no BTF is not religious and neither am I. However I am Christian (which is NOT religion, something like Buddhism or Catholicism is religion) and BTF does sing about Christian topics. It just seems to me that it would more about God than a girl based on the lines "With nowhere to turn I'll find truth", "One last chance for salvation, salvation", and

"Breathe you in and it's all over now" |

| Haste the Day – My Name Is Darkness Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I'm pretty sure this is about people gaining salvation. We humans dwell in sin, which is darkness, but when we get saved we are forgiven and that darkness around us disappears. I think 'And when all hope is lost it will be found when heavien and earth collide' is talking about the end of the world. Things are going to get really bad during the tribulation and hope will definately be lost for the human race. But the christians will escape it when Jesus comes back to bring them to heaven. Anyway it's a cool song and I like how the title is worded. It sounds really dark and depressing but it's really meaningful. | |
| As I Lay Dying – Anger And Apathy Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
To start off, in case nobody knows this, because nobody even mentioned it, is that apathy means 'lack of interest'. So this song deals with two different types of people: people who are angry and people who just don't care about anything. 'Ive tried to find reconciliation behind the walls of those whose hatred burns.' Reconciliation means two things coming together in a relationship. To put into terms of Christianity, it would mean receiving salvation. So this line is saying that the speaker has tried to witness to somebody who is filled with anger towards the world and is unhappy with life. 'For I find it easier to reach someone who still feels, than to make amends with passionless apathy. Where all lines are the same a portrait cannot be made.' This line is talking about the apathetic person and that its easier to reach someone who still has emotion (even if it's anger) rather than someone who has lost interest in everything. Everything is the same to this type of person so the speaker can't make them see anything different. 'I need to burn inside. I need to know that you are alive.' This is a plea for people to be filled with emotion and zeal for their faith. Discontent is being unhappy with where you're at, and indifference is having no emotion or reaction to anything. The question in the chorus is whether having negative feelings is better than having no feelings at all in order to reach people's hearts that are troubled. Most of the rest of the song is pretty much about the same thing. Anger is better than nothing because anger can at least be turned into something positive, such as determination to fix problems while people who are apathetic won't do anything about problems because they simply don't care. The conclusion to this song is Tim asking 'How much grievance will it take to awaken us from the comfort of our homes?' So thats what I get out of it. Please, feel free to correct or work off of it. |

| Underoath – Reinventing Your Exit Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
The meaning that makes the most sense to me is this: a relationship in which both people feel like they have to pretend to be someone else to be loved by someone else. Neither one of them are giving the other one room to feel like they can be themselves. "Twelfth and Hide on a Sunday Feeling like we're gold And we're nothing short of invincible" I don't know about the twelfth part, but the Hide part is capitalized (as in Mr. Hide? Being two people?) or they're hiding their true emotions from eachother. But at this point they don't care and they're just enjoying being together. It's that period of time at the beginning of a relationship where you just feel like everything is just perfect. "It starts again, can you feel it It takes your breath away Stop saying that we're invincible" This is describing the feeling at the beginning of the relationship but he's warning the other person to not feel "invincible" because they're not. The way that they're pretending to be someone else will make the relationship fall apart. "It's round and round You're uninviting, unrewarding And I'm misinforming you" Round and round is how the same things happen between the two such as arguments, and the he's saying that the other person is not worth being around and he's giving her false signals to keep the relationship going. "We all want to be somebody Right now we're just looking for the exit" Both of them want to just be who they want to be but they're trying to find the way to get out of this constrained relationship. "This is the way I would have done things Up against the wall You got me up against your wall" Explaining that the singer woulf have done things differently in the relationship but his partner doesn't give him room to do anything. "It's you and me on a Monday The lies that we told This is where we both go numb now You broke my heart again this time You're fading now you crossed the line" Sunday comes right after Monday so basically its showing how quick the love in the relationship is fading. They tell lies to stay together. Both of them know that they're lying but they're numb so they don't care. They hurt eachother so much that they don't mean anything to eachother. "Reaching out for a hand that's not there But you're not there, you're not there" They're trying to find some help or some love between them but they're not there for eachother anymore. Makes the most sense to me... anyone agree? |

| Underoath – We Are the Involuntary Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
This song sounds like its explaining that we as humans just live life and make decisions without really thinking about what consequence our actions will bring upon us. It also seems like Spencers begging us to be ready face the end before it's too late because "the wake" is the end of us all. Aaron's part changes the direction of the song. "Hands in the air and love at our sides" makes me think of somebody reaching out to God for help and feeling a sense of peace from it. This break in the song is about the people who know that we are not alone and that there is something(-one) bigger than us. They search for some sort of peace and find God (truth). This song must have been epic played live, especially when Aaron and Spencer sing together. |

no, the lines are two separate lyrics. it's like this. "I'm right here b****/I'm buried by the words of liar/I'm right here, b****/but I'm alive and I'm still breathing See, the line "but I'm alive and I'm still breathing" is continuing off of the line "I'm buried by the words of a liar". sooo, just to explain some more, it's saying "I'm buried by the words of a liar, but I'm alive and I'm still breathing". In my last comment I said it sounded like a fight song towards the devil so I'll put it into this context. "I'm right here b****" there's the challenge. Saying, I'm right here so come and get me. "I'm buried by the words of a liar." the liar is Satan. "I'm right here, b****". come and get me, i'm ready this time. "But I'm alive and I'm still breathing". You may have fooled me once, but I'm still here (b****) and you can't stop me |

mattjames2010 wrote: 'If you listened to the lyrics, you would notice that this isn't another "emo" song. It has a positive message, about people looking away from there's and others problems, but deciding to change that and facing their problems through faith.' Trust me, I listened to the lyrics. I know what the lyrics say, and I know what the song's about. Maybe I should rephrase my last comment seeing that people hate the word 'emo' so much... what I meant was that it's another song by TFK about a...DEPRESSED...person who eventually finds some comfort. Let's take a look. Small Town off of Set It Off is about a DEPRESSED girl who nobody acknowledges, she doesn't know why she's alive, she shuts herself up in her room (sounds emo to me but whatever) so anyway she finds a church an at the end she's ok. This Is a Call off of Phenomenon in the first verse tells about a coughEMOcough girl who's got all these problems and she fakes being ok. The second verse is about a coughEMOcough guy who is all depressed and everything but hides his feelings. Then yes, the chorus is about asking God for help in depression. Broke Wing from The Flame In All of us, for the sake of saving space, is along the same story line as the last to. So, along comes Look Away. It's about the same thing. Sorry if I offended anyone with using the word "emo" but the people in the song kinda fit the description. And yes, I know there is a positive message to it. That was beside my point. I just thought it was another traditional uplifting song about depressed teenagers (not that there's anything necessarily bad about that. But if iwnbts17 was right, then that's pretty cool. |

| Haste the Day – 68 Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I think it's about how we as humans have the natural urge to just sin and destroy everything God has created, thus: "I am the one you will call the destroyer The messenger of my disgrace I am my own disease" and then it goes on to say what God does about it. He's merciful but if we persist acting the same way well... "You sit on your throne of compassion The charges will fall as we all Go marching so helplessly on" The next part about the curtain could be talking about the temple curtain that was torn during the crucifixtion. What I get is that we sinned so much that Jesus had to go die for us and thus "tear the curtain" then i think he's asking God to give him some light so he can spiritually see him "We came this far To tear the curtain Shed light so i can See your eyes Shed your light on me" This I'm guessing is how after we become saved we have the burden of going through the world watching everyone fall away but we have to do what we think is right. "I carry the weight of this burden And watched as they all fell away Its not just a dream its a nightmare I carry the weight of this burden And watched as they all fell away Its not just a dream its a nightmare" This is what happens when we either make the choice to follow God or turn away from him. "We will fall to ruin If we don't bury disguises that we made We will see the finish If we will carry ourselves to the end of the race The charges will fall I am my own disease" I am my own disease |

Love this song. So emo-ish: "Then you bite your lip/when it matters most/you see the red in sight/can you taste the blood?/taste it on your lips..." love those lyrics Ok, I need some band info here. I've heard that Stephen Keech (the one who screams) also sings clean vocals. What parts does he sing in this album. Does he sing in this song? Also, which guy sings the verse in this song? Is it Brennon Chaulk the guitarist, or Micheal Murphy the bassist. Just wondering is all ;) If any one knows please tell me. |

yah, just some quick corrections, no big deal... "can you let me in" is really "can you lend me a hand" "what it means to live on again" is really "what it means to be whole again" Then in the second verse it's "trapped between the truth and the consequence" Great song by Creed, best on the album. I think the meanings already been explained good enough. Ultimate summer song for me! |

| Thousand Foot Krutch – Move Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Ok, so it seems like everybody's got these huge opinions about this song's meaning. TFK is a christian band and most of their songs have christian meanings. However, they also seem like they have this craving for attention by sport events. Ever since their Phenomenon album they've been trying to remake rawkfist, (and I think they beat it with this song). ANYWAY, my guess is that when they wrote this song they were hoping to get it as a theme song for something so they just wrote some in-your-face lyrics to make it a get-pumped-up song. And, being a christian band they probably stuck in some phrases so that it could possibly have a christian message in it, but with the primary motivation just for it to be a good work out kind of song. As for the video, on the TFK website Trevor said that it was influenced by his liking for scary movies so there was probably no hidden meaning in the video except for it have creepy scary movie kind of feel. That's what I think, I don't know if my idea about the song is right but it makes sense to me. | |

| Creed – Fear Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think the song Fear (the real lyrics) is about standing up and witnessing about Christ even if you're afriad to do it. Scott is basically saying that when he tells you about God, you're gonna listen whether you like it or not. Then he goes on to say that once your saved you leave all your past behind and the 'change is permanent'. My favorite line is "staying silent is a crime". | |

Rated 0 I agree with the guy and the girl explanation but I'm gonna go deeper. "Every time I call you on the phone I listen to it ring but no one's home I can't explain the energy that You give me when I'm left here alone" Well, it sounds like some incident between the guy and girl, and the girl's not answering his calls. When he has the chance to talk to her about his feelings for her, he cowards out. But, when he's all by himself he feels like he needs to talk to her but the fact that he can't makes him angry (energy) "And every time I pass you on the street You won't even turn and look at me I never would of thought that things could Go this far but please believe me" When he sees her, she ignores him and he never guessed that "things could go this far" "I'll pick you up, won't let you fall I'll build your trust and it won't hurt at all, Your only drug will let you down, I'm through now, so take me and blow me away" He's saying that he'll still be there for her and it's not going to hurt her to believe that he never meant to hurt her. Then, her drug, whatever that may be, is going to fail now. The next part sounds like he's either giving up on her because it hurts too much. "When I feel numb I'll let you know, I won't become what I was before, You cannot kill what's not your creation, This is the Art of Breaking" The first line sounds like he's saying "when i my feelings for you are over" Then "I won't become what i was before" sounds like "I won't be the same person than I was when I was with you" She can't end his feelings for the girl because they're his feelings and she can't do anything about them Not sure about the art of breaking. Maybe it means breaking a relationship off or something "I think I might just lose my mind If I have to watch this one more time I can't explain how many times i've Stayed for you when you were on my mind" He can't stand watching her flirt with other guys because he was there for her all the time and now she just forgets about him. "No one ever said that it was easy So come out of the cold and stop your bleeding I never would of thought that things could Go this far, but please believe me" He tried to come out and help her when she was hurt. Maybe she was cutting herself...("to stop your bleeding") the 'cold' being isolation from her. "Are you gonna run away, and leave me here alone? Are you gonna run away, and leave me here?" She's gone. THE END |

I can't beleive there's no comments for this song yet... I think this song could be about how he keeps giving in to temptations and blending in with the world even though he doesn't want to. He says how he keeps hurting God and himself too and he knows it. The bridge changes direction and he's talking to the devil and telling him to get away from him. |

| Yah I thought it was about a girl at first too, but when I really read through the lyrics I thought something different. Basically, it sounds like it's about somebody who tries to take all the problems of his life but can't do it all. The singer is telling him that he warned the guy that he can't do it all by himself and he needs God in his life to give his problems to. Just a guess | |

I think there's a couple of mistakes here... "the walls that once defined me" = "the walls that once confined me" "Ask yourself what's just under my skin" = "Ash still simmers just under my skin" "A different smile again" = "Indifferent smile's again" "Your need time make no change" = "Erily time made no change" "Dug my grace" = "Dug my grave" This is one of my favorites of the new album I think it's about two people. Whatever the connection the two people had, something happened that hurt the 'I' in the song or he feels bad about something that happened. I think a key part of the song are the first two lines. The 'walls ONCE confined' him yet he still knows that he'll be 'underneath them when they crumble'. So, what I get is that he was in a situation (maybe an addiction, or some a struggle) and he wanted to get out of it but the 'walls' were confining him. Now that the 'door' or whatever is opened and the walls aren't confining him anymore, something is still holding back. I think that it's the memories of what happened because the 'scars' of what he did to try to get out of it still remind him. The ashes part tells me that this was a recent event because the 'ashes still simmer'. Now the indifference smile's again I'm not sure about, but he says 'so much i hide'so i think that he's holding all the emotion in and just smiling to get by. However, just hiding and not doing anything isn't a 'step forward' to solving you problems but is rather a 'step back'. The chorus is saying that the other person acts different all the time so he doesn't know what to think. 'Broken mirrors paint the floor' means that if there's mirrors all over the floor, the person can't avoid seeing themselves and seeing what the 'singer' sees in them. He's asking whch personality is the real one. Time usually heals wounds but apparently, nothing happened hear and this other person kept lying and deceiving and then acting like a good person. But the singer was 'standing' there for him for the other persons benefit. That's what I get out of it. Tell me whatcha think. |

This song sounds basically like a confessional song: "Blood is dripping from my hands, tell me is this what you wanted?" This is where the person realizes that they've sinned pretty bad (blood of Christ), feel guitly, and asking God if this is the way things have to be "I'm the one who walked away, for me it's all that I needed." they're saying that they turned away from God and whatever they did made them realize that they're lost "With nowhere to turn I'll find truth" When you're at the end of your rope, you'll look anywhere for help. In this case, God The chorus is basically saying that the person is giving God everything they have left "One last chance for salvation" This person feels like they have one more chance to be 'real' with God and not just pretend "See this empty hole inside,
don't let it keep growing deeper" They feel like something is missing in them, so they ask God to fill it "I'm the one who runs away
it's true I'm lost on the outside" Apparently they know about God but keep running away "Breathe you in and it's all over now, when my arms open" They are finally welcoming God into their life "I'm drowning, forgive me" They're drowning in regret and guilt because they see what they've done and are asking for forgiveness That's my interpretation anyway. Sounds good
