Billy Joel – She's Always A Woman Lyrics 15 years ago
Many years ago my girlfriend at the time and I were discussing this song. She said that it kind of describes her as she can be unpredictable but with the right guy she’s “always a woman”. I said that I saw it as one guy telling another guy (me) that
‘She might treat you like dirt, but that’s not how she treats me.”

Unfortunately, in the end we both turned out to be right.

I see this song in that way to as I was in that exact same situation. I was the "backup" guy. The hard part is finally saying enough is enough and moving on. but it is so worth it when you do. Really makes you appreciate when someone doesn't treat you in that way.

This is a great song. I have been reading the F.F. section of this site and have come to realize why I like there music so much. I have bee surprised how many of there songs are about love, loss, how much it sucks to be dumped/used/abused by someone you love and how you just have to find the inner strength to move on. What strikes me is how this all parallels my past/current relationship. I was in a bad one, then finally found the strength to move on and am now in a good one.

Sarah McLachlan – I Love You Lyrics 15 years ago
This is one of those rare songs that instead of thinking of a special someone when I hear it, I hope a special someone thinks of me when she hears it.

You and me both. I had the same experience and memory about a girl I loved with that line. Kinda nice to know others have gone threw the exact same thing.

Foo Fighters – Best Of You Lyrics 15 years ago
This song describes my last relationship (before I met my wife) to a “T”. I love all the comments. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one to go thru crap like that.

My Ex-girlfriend really had my number. I’d loved her for years. Every time we’d get close she’d meet some guy and off she’s go only to come back to me to pick up the pieces. I finally got sick of it and stopped playing, she got scared that I wouldn’t be there for a backup anymore and she started dating me. Being with her was better than I had ever imagined and she kept telling my how happy she was to finally be with me.

Just when I started to feel safe in our relationship, that she wasn’t going to dump me and start seeing someone else, she dumped me and started seeing someone else. Oh and she still wanted us to be friends and talk to me about her new boyfriend.

Really messed me up for a long time. I eventually met someone else but she still wanted to stay connected. I realized if I stayed connected it would screw up the new relationship so I just had to walk away (hardest thing I have had to do because I still loved her) Glad I did as I’ve been married for the past 13 years to someone that doesn’t play games.

Foo Fighters – How I Miss You Lyrics 15 years ago
I agree. I can completely relate, even after I’ve moved on and found someone else. I think that most everybody has that one person in there past they would think about when they hear this song. That first person you really gave your heat to, but got it back broken. How calling her only makes it worse and how you hope she misses you as much as you miss her and trying to figure out how it went wrong. The song also makes me glad I now have someone to turn to that really loves me.

Sarah McLachlan – Good Enough Lyrics 15 years ago
Love this song. I always think of my ex-girlfriend whenever I listen to it. Also a thank you to Rockenpnay for the comment. It’s comforting to know that I’m not the only one to go thru something like that. (believe it or not, that stuff happens to guys too.)

I’d been in love with my friend for many years. Every time we’d get close, she would meet some guy and off she’d go only to have her come back to me to help pick up the pieces. I finally got sick of it and decided not to play anymore which shocked her in to realizing I might not be around forever. We dated and she told me how happy she was to finally be with me. Just when I was feeling stable in our relationship, she left and started seeing someone else. Really messed me up for a long time but I realized if I was ever going to be truly happy, I just had to walk away (one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do). That was 16 years ago and haven’t talked to her since. It was the best thing I ever did though. I’m married now for 13 years to a fantastic woman who loves me all the time, not just when it’s convenient.
