Don McLean – American Pie Lyrics 15 years ago
Don Mclean is still a live and eludes answering what the songs true meaning is-the song is full of metaphors but they are decipherable based on "the perception of the decoder". This will probably be Mcleans legacy. I still think Stringofpearls is right on--that during this period in america, American's were full of fustration and panic our president was "murdered", Elvis was King, Lennon waS talking and writing about Carl Marx and the evils of capitalism. This doesn't mean that Buddy Holly, Richie Valens and the Big Bopper don't fit in the song because they probably do but it also leaves room for the frustrations of the young men leaving to fight a war that many wouldn't return and that is lost innocense my friend, "the day the music died".

Counting Crows – Mr. Jones Lyrics 15 years ago
I think the song is about two dudes that party and hope to find that "beautiful someone". I think the line I wanna be Bob Dylan refers to a man who has confidents and conversation- Mr.Jones wanting to be more funky being able to go up to girl and feel like you bring something to the table. We all feel like that in environments that are unfamiliar and all struggle with beauty. Wouldn't everyones secret fantasy to be big stars that are beautiful and exciting. So Mr. Jones the friend and he live vicarious through fantacies while out partying, "shes looking at you,oh no she's looking at me". Actually it's a cute song with great lyrics fun to dance to.

Don McLean – American Pie Lyrics 15 years ago
Although Don Mclean is still living he does not want to tell of what the song is about what he was feeling during the time the song was written and I think the song is going to be his legacy it's fantastic--Whatever the song is about is only ones perspective and as I stated earliar many American's that where around that political-social heat.

Don McLean – American Pie Lyrics 15 years ago
About 20 years ago I asked my father a vietnam vet what the song was about and he probably not as elequently as you Stringofpearls explains it yet still pretty close. My dad would be 64 now and loved the song but there was huge significance that only that generation could truly appreciate and understand--"A generation lost in space but that's not how it used to be". Of course the notion of the "Beaver Cleaver" days were not real either just an ideal notion of a perfect America-Maybe one we should all strive for.

Bob Dylan – Like a Rolling Stone Lyrics 15 years ago
Oh my gosh I knew all the words to this song by time I was nine-my dad loved Dylan. I think it's about youth and rebellion, throwing caution to the wind. The story teller is saying, "how does it feel, to be own your own, with no direction home-like a rolling stone". Kind of lectoring and kind of predicting while throwing her sorrows and worries in her face.

alone a lover finds himself in a dichotomos situation- he's in love and repulsed at the same time. Stroming his guitar softly, slowly, sadly.

The Alan Parsons Project – Don't Answer Me Lyrics 15 years ago
I always loved this song; after reading it I realized it's about two people who have hooked up without commentment. He wants to believe it's more than it really is. And from the lyrics it sounds like she too is quite confused and intentionally or not has left the man reeling, hopeing, pitiful one moment and star crossed the other.
