It's about when the lead singer was in college (to be an english major/teacher), and he walked outside to the campus, then saw a group of kids having a potition saying about how the oxford comma WAS important and to make use it. So he sat down at his father's piano when he got home. He started writing about it, and the rest of it just seemed to flow he says. |

Sorta straight foward interpatation for me, but I just think it's about him having a dream about his relationship being perfect. But in all reality, his dream is true. Hence the line,"You were beautiful, you were beautiful. In the dream you were just like you are." Not sure what the ending is about though. "In the dream you were someone different." Maybe since it's at the end of the song, it means in the end nothing worked out? Not sure, that's my inturpratation though(:
