| Is anyone else reminded of Isaac Asimov's Mule, especially by the second verse? In one of the Foundation books, the Mule did just the same thing, instigating a lynching, although he did it using his mentalics and adjusting the emotions of group of farmers. | |

I think the man is an immortal mutant ("I was raised from a broken seed), who never quite fit in anywhere (possibly abandoned by parents?), and finally wants to die along with his love for once, but can't, because of his regenerative ability. So he is doomed to walk the earth forever, and ruin people's lives (because association with him brings presecution/because he cannot (safely) reproduce with humans?). Also, the part "On this deadwinter's night//Darkness becomes this child" leads me to assume he's finally snapped that night, and turned into something dark, or his offspring did. As an aside: try reading the SCP-wiki (http://scp-wiki.wikidot.com) while listening to this track. It conjures up an impressively disturbing series of images at some of the more gruesome articles. |
