This song has the saddest video I've seen in a really long time... the poor lump just wants to be with her, but she has other obligations. Then it dies. (Which is pretty much what happens with any old pet, it seems.) I kept thinking something would happen so that it wouldn't be quite so depressing, but no. I liked it before seeing the video. |

| I'm not entirely sure about the fourth line in the first verse, but I gave it my best shot. Anyone know for sure? | |

This song makes me think of Margaret Atwood's The Year of the Flood. In the book, there's this group of hippies who live in communes and hope to create a better world after society collapses. They keep singing even as the world ends around them. I don't think there's any actual connection there... just my personal association. Good song, anyways. |

The first time I heard it, I couldn't make out much more than the upbeat music and the "you're a zero" line. I thought it might be about a girl finally fitting into the clothes she'd always wanted to wear, as a metaphor for some kind of success. Yeah, maybe the whole anorexic fashion magazine has influenced me a bit much... Now I think it's more about celebrating being kind of different and at the bottom of the social hierarchy, instead of trying to fit in. |

I'm not sure these lyrics are 100% correct; I just posted my best stab at it because nobody else online seems to have given it a try. Some parts don't seem to make much sense, so I think I might've gotten them wrong. Anyways, I think it's about trying to change a political situation for the better. What situation, or when, or where, I have no idea. |
