I'm pretty sure it's 'Fear not the dark or the deep' instead of 'deed', which would also fit more with the idea of drowning. And the 'To wash your tops' part isn't English at all, but French. My French isn't that great, especially when it's spoken with a Scottish accent, but as far as I can piece together they're singing: "Tout en chantant sur le mode mineur" Which translates as "While singing in the minor key". The phrase is apparently from a French poem 'Clair de lune' by Paul Verlaine (1844-1896). |
