Such an under appreciated album. My sister gave me and my wife a mixed tape of love songs including this song when we got married. I couldn't stop listening to this song. I presume that this guy is threatening to kill himself because this woman won't commit to him. I don't know. Great song, though. |

I live about three hours from, and have been to the UP on several occasions so I feel the need to comment. I think that the UP is very peaceful and absolutely beautiful, but not for everyone. If you can't appreciate being alone with nature, than stay in the city. I think he actually says he lost his job and wife in the last few lines of the song. This song definitely conveys a feeling of loneliness and solitude. I knew a guy who had a small hunting/snowmobiling trailer in a very remote area of Michigan and he had to live in it after he got divorced. Maybe this could be a similar situation. |
