| Needtobreathe – Don't Wait For Daylight Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Wow, that's a different take, there. The lyrics are song-cryptic, which is wonderful because then we can project our lives onto it and have a good cry and drive 80 mph into the night because it's talking to us. I always thought it was a [country-music worthy] story about one of those earth-shattering, heart-crushing discoveries. I don't care if I didn't leave wearing his coat, I feel this song. And when someone is singing to me to "sing out, sing out--it's up to you" when I felt like I would die and no one else could walk under the crushing load of betrayal and sorrow and forgiveness and shame and rejection and hope and aloneness for me, trust me, it's about the heart of the song. When someone is singing, "Sing out, sing out--I know you will..." I don't care what the details were originally about, even if they were about someone else's soap opera. Which is why we love music so desperately--we need a soundtrack for our lives to speak for and to us. | |
