Tyrone Wells – More Lyrics 15 years ago
Heard this song at the store I work at...Thought immediately it was Christian. Turns out the artist has Christian roots.

You kind of get the sense in the beginning, but it becomes clear here:

"I think we're all afraid
That we might be alone
Alone down here
We all want to have some faith
At least that's true in my case
To just believe"

and then...

"This world may crumble
Into the ocean
It could all end tonight

I undermined you
Then try to find you
My only source of light"

Listening to this song reminds me of this scripture from Hebrews 11....

"1Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear."

Jars of Clay – Jealous Kind Lyrics 15 years ago
He is a jealous God...i know it may be hard to understand at first, but he's only jealous for one thing, our love....

Exodus 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

He has given man free will to choose to love him or go their own way. He can't/won't make us love him, a love he is jealous for...he's created us to have fellowship with himself...it's his desire to save/have fellowship with everyone of us....too bad satan/the world have made sure that there is only "few" that will actually accept his love and turn to him.

Relient K – I So Hate Consequences Lyrics 15 years ago
"When I got tired of running from you
I stopped right there to catch my breath
There your words they caught my ears
You said, “I miss you son. Come home”
And my sins, they watched me leave
And in my heart I so believed
The love you felt for me was mine
The love I’d wished for all this time
And when the doors were closed
I heard no I told you so’s
I said the words I knew you knew
Oh God, oh God I needed you
God all this time I needed you, I needed you"

This song's message can be related to the prodigal son parable in the new testament. A father taking back his long-lost/disobedient son with open arms. Read the parable, or wiki it...striking similarities. The parable was told by the Lord Jesus in order to show sinners their relationship with God.

This song is about a person who is coming to grips with their sin. They know that their sin is against God, and they know that their sin is a issue, but instead of facing it, they keep running away from it (aka human nature). Eventually, they grow exhausted from running from God, and confess their sin...

Realizing then, that God is a gracious God who loves sinners in spite of their sin...enough to give his son to pay the price for our sin in our steads...and that like the father of the prodigal son, he is just waiting for us to come to him as we are, imperfect, trusting in his son, and he will keep us forever in paradise.

Relient K – High of 75 Lyrics 15 years ago
"But now I’m
Sunny with a high of 75
Since you took my heavy heart and made it light
And its funny how you find you enjoy your life
When you’re happy to be alive"

Life is more enjoyable when you appreciate what was done for us on the cross; when God lifted the burden of our sin our own hearts and put it upon his son. I get depressed and discourage just as easy as the next person, but this song has a good message: how can we be down on ourselves when he gave all he had so that we can live? we should enjoy the lives that have been given to us.
