| Okay, I found it on the single "Girlfriend in a Coma". Any others? | |
| The Smiths – Rubber Ring Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Two things: One: I do not think Moz is actually saying Rubber Ring, but he is instead just vocalizing. I cannot make out him saying anything actually, so it could just be one of those plain singing parts like in " The Boy With the Thorn in His Side" (which by the way, I got into the talent show with!). Then again, it could be like the "in the back of your car"s from "You've Got Everything Now". Kind of hard to decipher. Two: What happened to this song and "What She Said"? Why were they combined? (Don't get me wrong, it is pretty cool. It is just kind of weird) Please respond to either! |

This song has to be the catchiest Smiths song. Also, it has the best lines; I love the ones "With a past where to be touched meant to be mental" and "I'm a twenty digit combination to unlock". I feel it would kind of be a waste of money to buy the only album it is on (I think it is the only album...) Sweet and Tender Hooligan. I have half of the four songs already (from my first CDs, "The Sound of the Smiths"), and I do not really like song covers, which the other is (Cilla Black cover, Work Is a Four Letter Word). If anyone knows another album where I can get this song, REPLY REPLY REPLY!!! Thnx |

| I love how it is added to the this charming man collectors(?) edition with all of those versions. It seems so cool (charming man: wonderful woman:) ) | |

Definitely in my top five. Perfect tune; I just wish it was longer with less instrumental. I do not know whether to agree with fender89's original interpretation or the his girlfriend's interpretation. The second one just seems so new to me, but so plausible. I am just glad no one (or I do not think anyone did...) started rambling off about "homosexuality this" and "homosexuality that". It just gets a bit redundant.:) |

First Smiths song I have listened to; it got me in the craze. Not one of my top ten, but still timeless. I know I am being repetitive, but I think the song talks about the protagonist's (Moz) parents kicking him out and going with his girlfriend (boyfriend? sorry for being a jerk) and having the night on the city. Okay song; I used to love it, but now it's okay. My sister only likes this song and no others (except for Rush and push...). Man does she have a lot to learn about the awesomeness of the smiths. :) |

Fav. Smiths song of all time (for right now!). BillyBudd has it on the spot. First of all, Morrissey already talks about the subtle cruelty of the record companies. Secondly, if you have read the lyrics of Cemetry Gates, you would know Moz is a fan of Wilde. This interpretation fits the song perfectly. |

I agree with Devolver a bit but I believe that, because Moz is big into vegetarianism, the song could be talking about just the Draize Test and not really about Nazis. It could be commenting on the cruelty that he sees in it, with the killing and testing of animals. I really have not heard all of the song, so I am not using the tune to interpret the song, but I just think it is somewhat common sense if we are talking about a test focused on animal subjects and Moz and the gang reflecting on it in their song. Just my opinion. |
