| Sufjan Stevens – The Predatory Wasp of the Palisades Is Out to Get Us! Lyrics | 15 years ago |

The impression that I always get from this song is that there are two male friends. Best friends, probably very close. And maybe there is a teasing kiss, but feelings arise from it. And in the end the friend leaves. I remember the first time I had feeling for another woman I couldn't "explain the state that I'm in The state of my heart, he was my best friend." I have a very Christian background. Every time the subject of homosexuality was brought up, my parents had to remind me that it was wrong and "unGodly." So to me it always reminds me of that part of myself. Being so confused, and feeling like I was innately evil for wanting to be with a girl. But really not wanting the feelings to go away. Anyways, that's just what I am reminded of when I listen to this song. Probably not at all what Sufjan was talking about. That is one thing I love about all of his songs, they are entirely versatile. There are so many meanings to each and everyone of them. |
