The Smashing Pumpkins – Eye Lyrics 15 years ago
I like the ideas people are throwing around but I don't think its about a girl. I think it's about god (im an atheist so dont worry about me getting all religiousy about it ha). But the line "Just a touch, it's not enough" and "Is it any wonder I found peace though you?" immediately draw my mind to the subject of god. The just a touch part makes me picture the famous painting of god touching whoevers firgers and Billy kinda saying its not enough, I know it's way out there but it seems like Billys kinda saying god doesn't do enough for humanity or whatever.

Billy has stated himself that it's about the music industry so good job man ha. My favorite line is "beware of all those angels with their wings glued on" awesome song.

"Despite all my rage, I am still just a rat in a cage" this line packs more of a punch than almost any ever, and in my opinion is one of the best ever. The song is so full of angst and anger that it gives it a raw thriving emotion that any angry teenager or angry anybody can identify with. Im not sure as to whether it is the Pumpkin's greatest song because they have atleast 100 fantastic songs but it sure is up there.

I do see some happy songs on Mellon Collie as well but dude way to give some shit examples of happiness, Galapogos is certainly not happy "Should I fall from grace here with you, will you leave me to?" and Porcelina isnt either, Muzzle seems sarcastic, In the Arms of Sleep is definately not, and Thirty Three one of my favorites on the whole album embodies the title by being completely melancholy. Anyhow this song is brilliant and so is the whole album, and band.

The Smashing Pumpkins – 1979 Lyrics 15 years ago
I feel sorry for the people who can't see the meaning in this song, the lyrics of this song are pure poetry, it's obviously about being a teenager and being rebellious and all the pain and angst you feel during that time. It's most likely entitled 1979 because that's probably the time of Corgan's life he was writing about.
