This is my "clean and sober" song. I first heard it when I was trying to quit drinking and drugging. Bono was singing about how I felt. I couldn't verbalize how I felt but U2 could. I played this song over and over for hours for months on end. 25 sober years later, I hear this song and smile and say thanks for writing this song. |

He says the song is an allusion to a soldier's post traumatic stress syndrome. They keep living the horror in their heads. |
