Sturgill Simpson – Turtles All The Way Down Lyrics 11 years ago
So brilliant!

"...they all changed the way I see, But love's the only thing that saved my life."

Amen! Can definitely relate to this terrific song writer.

Mumford & Sons – I Gave You All Lyrics 14 years ago
One of my favorite lyrical lines ever! People want to do grand heroic things, but we all tend to neglect the duties and possibilities right in front of us.

Please make sure you have all the lyrics before submitting, as there are WAY too many parentheticals and question marks above. If you aren't sure, don't submit lyrics.

Frank Turner – Journey of the Magi Lyrics 15 years ago
One of the most heart-wrenchingly beautiful songs I have ever heard. Turner's poetry is so good!

That last verse in particular will blow me away every time, though I would be amiss if I didn't correct it to "BE WHAT YOU BELIEVE." The version above leaves out "be," which is possibly the most important word in the song!

Gnarls Barkley – The Last Time Lyrics 15 years ago
So simple, so perfect, so powerful.

When was the last time you danced? I mean flat out, who cares who sees, surrendered your whole being to the music and DANCED?

Do it. Again and often.

The Mountain Goats – Hast Thou Considered the Tetrapod Lyrics 15 years ago
I'm an adult and would be scared about my stereo getting broken.

Music is such a big part of me, and my old hifi is my most prized posession. It is irreplacable, having been mostly peiced together at various yard sales before I was even born.

Probably could live without it, but losing it would crush me.

Laura Marling – Made by Maid Lyrics 15 years ago
So left to wander blind, I find myself in cautious times,
And they say, Loves labor is never lost; labor on to this very day.
So I walk into the fog, found a babe atop a log and all alone
Took him under, took him on,
Taught him everything about the world Id come to know

And he blames me for every wrong ever he made
I am blamed for every wrong ever he made

So beautiful! This album is really amazing, and amazingly mature for someone who barely turned 20! Looking forward to it actually coming out!

So haunting, so beautiful.

How is someone so young writing these songs!?! She is incredibly talented!

Frightened Rabbit – Living in Colour Lyrics 15 years ago
Definitely a highlight of a great, great album.

And as the night started swallowing
You put the blood to my blue lips
Forced the life through still veins
Filled my heart with red again

I was lucky enough to be pulled up to the sweaty floor ;) and find a happy life after my depressing divorce. The girl who rescued me just happens to be the same one who introduce me to Frightened Rabbit!

Thanks guys, for bringing such amazing energy in my life.

Frightened Rabbit – The Loneliness and the Scream Lyrics 15 years ago
Favorite song on the album for me! I love Things and Skip the Youth so much, but this song just floors me! Between this and Old Old Fashioned, Frightened Rabbit has 2 songs in my top 10, which is saying something!

In the loneliness
oh the loneliness and the scream
to prove to everyone that I exist
in the loneliness
oh the loneliness and the scream
to bring the blood to the front of my face again

Such a great verse. So eloquently puts into words a very confusing emotion that I am sure everyone has at one time or another.

These guys are just getting better and better! Can't wait to see them live here in May!

Frightened Rabbit – Swim Until You Can't See Land Lyrics 15 years ago
Wow! What an amazing song! The past is past, and although it may yell for attention sometimes, it doesn't control you!

Let's call me a baptist, call this the drowning of the past.
She's there on the shoreline throwing stones at my back.

Love that line so much! I'll bet a lot of people have someone "on the shoreline throwing stones at [their] back."

@Da7id:

Should have clarified that only the first part of my post was to you, lol. You are not my human heat, obviously, but the one who holds that position frequents these pages...

Frightened Rabbit – Things Lyrics 15 years ago
@Da7id:
Thanks for posting the official lyrics! Much appreciation!

This song (indeed the majority of the album) focuses so much on leaving youth behind, moving on from hardship (and heartbreak) and finding true happiness again.

I can definitely relate, as this album came at that exact time in my life!

i'll never need these things, i'll never need them,
it's just you i need, you my human heat,
for the things are only things and nothin brings me like you bring me.
i'll never need these things i'll never need them,
never going back, so let's drop the past,
and we'll leave it on the floor and run for dear life through the door.

So powerful! Gets to me every time. I love you babe! You are my human heat, and all I need...

Such an incredible song!

The transition at 1:45 is epic. Shoots a chill down my spine every time!

Laura Marling – Alpha Shallows Lyrics 15 years ago
Such an unbelievably great sound, esp the first half.

Amazing how much she grew since "Alas"

Laura Marling – Rambling Man Lyrics 15 years ago
The above seems to be missing the following verse towards the end:

It's funny how the first chords that you come to
are the minor notes that come to serenade you
and it's hard to accept yourself as someone you don't desire
as someone you don't want to be

As far as the meaning? Think that I need to ponder it a bit more...
