Personally, I think this song is about a man who is outside in his yard in December remembering a wife that has died. He thinks about all the fun they had on past vacations. He probably hasn't kept up her garden after her passing so it's unkempt and there are roots growing through the cracks. He's reminded of her and how she'd ask him how is day went. Basically he's reliving a happy moment in his life while feeling lonely and nostalgic on a cold winter's day. |
