lovely story Iaroca. I'm sure Donald Roeser who wrote the song will feel he got through to at least one person. Of all the interpretations I think yours was the closest. I always used to think the song was a suicide pact between two youngsters in love. But the emphasis not on the death itself, but the afterlife. "Redefin-ing happiness". |

Read the song with "teenage erection" in mind (well so to speak), and see how much of it makes sense. Then reconsider why Simon Le Bon said he doesn't know what it means, or that it's about a "friend they all lost"! Made a lot of sense to me. |

After knowing the song for years and thinking I knew what it meant I've recently come to terms with a friend who has mental illness. Since then "Unglued" to me has taken a whole new meaning. "Moderation is masturbation"---typical bipolar disorder always feeling extreme, nothing in moderation. "what is what and what makes you feel good." Again bipolar sufferers are never sure about what makes them feel good. "All these things I think about, always come unglued." Burst of thoughts that make no sense, again bipolar suffers on the edge. "Got this thing/feeling coming over me". Helplessness of a bipolar person about to have a nervous breakdown. |
