There's my 100 cents instead of just two because RHCP refers to this experience in many of their songs, hardly any of their fans seem to understand the message sent within their songs as do the fans of 311 in their songs. 311 however has a much more clear message than RHCP - RHCP leaves their songs open for many different interpretations and it seems like they do it on purpose to be recognized by and appeal to the ignorant people in order to reach those who will actually get the real message. Too many of their fans think that their songs are all about drugs and emotions, there's much more there in a good amount of them - especially Johnny Kick A Hole In The Sky. |

Remember, RHCP are trippers/were trippers and have definitely gone through ego loss. This is about reinventing yourself after the loss of the ego and making up a new one where you are no longer constrained by the limits of your previous ego but can do whatever you please in life. "Over the laws of light Over the moon by midnight Let's do it all this time Everyone wishing well we go" - Over the laws of light, they are very conscious of nature and the powers that be. Over the moon by midnight could either mean astral experiences or "The Dark Side of the Moon" referring to The Occult which is all about ego loss. It's about being above all that is and coming to a mass realization - only someone who has gone through these processes can understand. "Lets do it all this time, everyone wishing well we go" could mean lets do all the drugs this time or lets go all the way and create peace within this confused world "Everyone knows anything goes We are the lotus kids Better take note of this For the story" - Throughout history, ANYTHING has gone and everything has been done, we are the lotus kids - we are making a point - we are setting a mark in history - we are making a difference - we are the new generation on the rise - we are making a name for ourselves, the lotus kids. Once ego loss occurs, you know that living a life of hate is not even worth it and is completely stupid with no point, you make no enemies and only friends from then on. You know that there is no difference between all humans "mix it up until there are no pedigrees" means mixing up all of the human species through unification and no delusion of one man being better than another. That is the way it is meant to be in order to live in a peaceful world. Don't get me wrong - 311 is my favorite band. I connect with them spiritually and intellectually and love their lyrics. But when I first heard this song, I had to listen to SA's first verse 3 more times or so. It basically explains a cult, SA seems to know a bit about mind control and manipulation but he uses it for the best within his lyrics. The message they send is pretty important. I'll break down the first verse. "I'm taking it to the bridge and there's a different country" - Come with me to a new place "I'm bringing with me the people I know deep down are funky" - Only the original, open minded, cooool people can come though - no one else. Like 311 fans for instance. "oh yeah we got, we got the juice it's on tap" - Kool-aid anyone? "never take the time to rewind all the weak crap" - Don't live in the past - nothing wrong here "here, take it it's yours the gift is calling" - What exactly is this gift? And it's CALLING out to me? Classic religious terms here. "the sunshine be falling our way first every morning" - Does it really now? Shit I guess 311 got into my head pretty well since that's how I feel on nice days, heh. And I had the cosmic conscious experience - maybe that's the gift they're trying to send us? "I'm a magician you see I'm christened with condition" CHRISTENED with condition, huh? Christen is derived directly from religion. I guess he could use it as his own slang term if he wanted though. SA is a pretty cool + creative guy. Apparently Nick's "Mentor" as well. Says so in one of his songs. "held over from a future world I've come to you so listen" - Oh really? "there's a place out in deep space, where all the brothers chant and dance and rant" - Brothers? You mean the brothers you're getting to follow you? Chant AKA Speak in tongues? Dance AKA Raise our arms in the air while speaking in tongues and move around like a tree and shit? Classic. "and shave their heads like Buddha" - This is pretty much where I drew the line. Shave their heads now? The fuck? "I'm a flyguy" - No shit you just made yourself sound like God, I hope someone wasn't tripping or listened to this song over and over while they were stoned. They might just subconsciously pick up on your previous messages. "you know I'm smoother" - Than who? Me? Everyone? Shit. "of course no remorse is felt for all those loser crews" - Yeah, the loser crews. You know, the ones who aren't funky deep down. OTHERS: "Mix a melody with some back chat" - A song with subliminal messages? Is that what this means? Or just lyrics over music? I don't really consider lyrics to be "back chat" - especially with 311. "I know you feel good, true." - Says it the same way every time - "I know you feel good" and "true" instead of "too" like I originally thought the first play of the song. Says it with the same voice tonality every time, as if it's an embedded command (look up NLP for more info. (Neuro Linguistic Programming)) "you got a choice of what you're gonna do" - Doesn't really make clear what choice we're making here. However he seems to think he's "Breaking idols" and I know they sure as hell broke my idols and made them my new ones. Shit. Sorry, but I had to tear apart SA's verse - I love the song and the band, and I have noticed some quite manipulative lyrics in more than just this song but these had to be pointed out. This song is just a special case I wanted some feedback on what everyone else thinks. However, it's a known fact that brainwashed followers will defend and possibly sexually desire their controllers. I'd rather someone with knowledge on the subject gave me some feedback if there's anyone out there. |

"I can't free myself of the suspicion for your motives on your mission" - Referring to the main subject of the song - Bands putting out a negative image - mainly the "Angry human" that: "leads impressionable boy to skulls and piercings and will to destroy" - Sound familiar? We've all seen them. "Hostile apostle, who are you following negative energy that you're swallowing" - Following these bands just make you swallow negative energy. I don't care if you say you don't. 311 is a very enlightened band and explores the unconscious mind. They know what's up. That negative bullshit in that bullshit music effects you where you like it or not. "all of your heroes speak nothing to me" - The heroes being the band lead singers I suppose. Or the bands themselves. Most of them are only heroes because they were really good and committed suicide. Great image to spread to our children. Make lots of money for spreading negative vibes and kill yourself. "some people live for the rules I live for exceptions" - Just like the rebellious kids that listen to the bullshit. They look for someone to understand the fact that they want to blow the world away - only a few types of music sing about that kind of shit. "can't take part in the deception but I know just how it feels to wanna blow the world away just to get to what is real" - 311 Making that connection with it's listeners. They've felt the same way we have. "it won't work cuz everybody grinds to a halt now and then everybody's game gets salt then again" - 311 Making their listeners aware that everyone gets this feeling - there's no need to listen to music that gives you "one motion, one tempo, no real feeling". Having this feeling once in a while is normal - but going to the extent of listening to music so you keep it, that's fucked and the reason it's supported is fucked as well. Probably so the psychiatry field can make more money. "In this field we are the presence of the thoughts you're missin' keepin' positive intact from all the people dissin'" - 311 shows its manipulative side once in a while - and this is one of them. But it's for the best of the "lost souls". They refer to themselves as the presence of the thoughts the "impressionable boy" loses once he's a victim of "lost soul" due to his negative "heroes". "you don't have to be a prick just to be heavy" - Now we know what he was talking about the whole time - HEAVY METAL. And you don't have to be a fucking prick that sings about dumb shit and socially conditions children into hating themselves and the world. It's some real bullshit. Viva La Evolution. "Victim of lost soul, hostile apostle." - In the end that's all the kids are that listen to heavy metal all day. Wear black, wear pictures of skulls, remain a "background person" and talk to the same few people every day. Make jokes about fucked up shit like death and murder. Overall lose your entire mind and mental processes to the music you listen to. It's better to listen to a variety of music, It's understandable to listen to Heavy Metal - but not ONLY Heavy Metal. Just my 10,000 cents. |

Clearly about an acid trip. Chorus is clear, messages in the verses are quite mixed. I think I understand a line, then 2 lines after that I don't anymore. There's got to be meaning though. I see references to evolution and tripping in their verses, but not enough to point them out and say that's what they're about. If it's about tripping then there's no doubt that they're probably talking about evolution, but I'm not going to be the one to be wrong here, heh. |

"If you don't have someone to do it with it's not worth doin'" This line makes sense now that we know it originally started with: "Hey rock with me I freak out, To the A.C.I.D. house". You can tell the song is about acid but I couldn't find a direct connection - now I have it, heh. Anyone who experiences rebirth on acid could most likely tell that this was how this song started. Just like Electricity started as a rant against haters, heh. I think 311 just doesn't want a druggie image for themselves because they have so much to offer in their songs and the messages within them. Which makes complete sense. |

The brain emits electricity on different frequencies. Therefore electricity is your very soul, and everyone has one. On top of that the earth has it's own magnetic field obviously. Just a minor connection to think about. "A call out for unity, In every province and city. What do you think we've been saying since we first started playing?" As already stated - pretty clear meaning here. 311 is down for the Unity man. "All along I thought we had our hearts on our shirtsleeve" This is a much more complex line. It's related to evolution and female to male attraction. There's a reason that unattractive guy can get any woman he wants, apparently 311 is aware of this evolutionary phenomenon. I guess that's why "Sometimes Jacks Rule The Realm" gets happy at the end, because when you know why the assholes get the girl... Well, you're not jealous anymore are you? Heh. |

You never forget the day you saw yourself from a 3rd person point of view (which makes no sense to be honest - out of body I suppose), "shielding your eyes as if surprised to see the universe begin". Seeing that and then the history of man itself in the form of a a film strip, which then twists and turns to look like a gigantic double-helix strand of DNA with pictures of the history of man running through it. You know how the "evolutionary mind twists, turns, back flips"? Seeing the beginning of it all and more and then watching it get sucked BACK into the vacuum it came from originally into the "portal" - AKA that little hole of light that started it all. Sucks not being able to see all of that forgotten information again on demand. Especially when you hardly remember a fuckin' thing. Try to comprehend what it would be like - seeing the entire universe in your mind. Now try doing it. Now add in trying to remember everything that has ever happened in human history. If you did the first you surely couldn't do both I'm sure. You just can't. I have no idea how you're able to achieve such memories and visualizations when you have the experience - but it does. You can't really understand how amazing the experience is without having it. You just keep trying to get it back whether it be through meditation or becoming a psychonaut. It's nice to know others have had it when you go searching for answers about it. Also, yes 311 is up to something - for those of you I saw posting on another song's thread. It's pretty obvious what it is if you just listen and interpret their lyrics on the same intellectual and spiritual level as them. Very obvious. |
