| i don't think the song is anti god, but its definitely not pro-religion. i think religion and god don't have to be hand in hand. | |

first time on this site, didn't realize i was making a reply to a specific post, my bad. ============ i think this song is pretty clearly related to the struggle between God and Lucifer... inside the chorus there is an argument for both the devil and for god... In a world beyond controlling Are you going to deny the savior In front of your eyes? Stare into the night Power beyond containing Are you going to remain a slave for The rest of your life? Give into the night it talks about the power you get from making a deal with the devil or whatever, and it mentions that attaining that power would be in vain as the world is beyond controlling. making such a pact with the devil would obviously make you a slave for the rest of your life, but for a power hungry person its a tough decision... remember David has written songs in the past about his own struggle with God in "prayer" and "believe" is also very religious... also david is not just some average schmo read the first paragraph here http://www.lyricsfreak.com/d/david+draiman/biography.html he's got a triple major from a very good university business, PHILOSOPHY, and political science.... i don't think this song is nearly as simple as you guys are making it out to be, though all great art lends itself to multiple interpretations so no interpretation is really wrong.... this is an absolutely epic song IMO with the struggle between good and evil, God and Lucifer... someone should make a movie based on it |
