Lykke writes her own lyrics. I was a big fan of hers before this song was played at the movie (and coinciently a fan of Twilight) so you can imagine my excitment when I heard this... Anyway pretty much everything she writes is about how she feels. Sounds like a break up song to me and how you feel just empty and hopless and sorta shocked when it happens, as if you wont know that your heart has stopped you just still stunned, yet the other person knows you well enough. Perhaps! But she HAS said that she just writes what she feels, and who knows if it is something she herself ahs been through or not, I think some are some aren't, but like any true artist, she leaves the interpretation to us.... |

I DEFINITLY think this song is about abortion... “Love, love is a verb Love is a doing word” - Just an amazing line, really. So true “Gentle impulsion Shakes me makes me lighter” - The drugs that kill the fetus. "Gentle because it is not the same method used in back allies back in the day. Shakes and makes lighter of course as it kills the tissue. “Nine night of matter ” - Talking about the womb, the "night of matter." Night is when most life rest, and renew. Nine, as in 9 months to create this matter “Black flowers blossom “ - Necrosis/decay. Imagine decay starting at a small spot on the flesh then "blossoming" out as devours the flesh slowly. “Water is my eye Most faithful mirror “ -Talking about amniotic fluid. This line is what really made me start to suspect the song was about abortion. “Teardrop on the fire of a confession” -Some people keep abortions a secret, therefore it being a confession if told. (Confession is a strong word that only added to my suspicions) “Teardrop on the fire” - A Tear drop is unlikely to put out a fire and yet a small amount of a drug can completely extinguish life.... “Fearless on my breath “ -The fetus has yet to take its first breath. "Fearless” because of its innocence to life. The music video closes the door on this, to me at least…. |
