i actually think the "plasma springs" sounds more like "plasma screens" ... i really love this song; its one of my favourites off the album ... it distantly reminds me of "Every Planet We Reach Is Dead" aside from the common theme of planets/stars, it also seems to talk about someone you long to love or be with -- but they are too far away, or gone. Hence, it says: "There's nothing you can say to her" and "And the space has been broken" ... Really sad, but I love its melody. |

Yeah! ... it doesn´t sound like most of their other stuff ... it it actually seems to spell up a bit more of meaning than any other of their songs. This definitely revolves around Jimmy`s wife, Chantal -- if you think about it, it pretty much sounds like the entire song is supposed to be directly speaking to her. He says "nothing good can happen when i trust people" and "i would have liked it if society had gone through the trouble of protecting you from me" Well, they are together, yeah? -- he trusted her. He wants to be with her, and she wants to be with him, right? -- they were meant to be. So ... "why don´t you come here and try to prove me wrong?" he wants her to prove him wrong of what he´s said. prove him wrong about not trusting people, having someone to protect him from her, failure, perfection, assurance, stupid fans (eheheheh) and all that jazz ... and though he doesn`t verbally admit he has defied those claims, he does say "i dont make rules, i just break rules". "cause i`m a stupid boy/and you´re a stupid girl" ... i guess he`s stupid because he needs to be proven wrong and she`s stupid because she`s trying to prove him wrong? something like that ... it explains why he also switches it around and says "why don`t you come here and try to play along" or "try to turn me on?" ... ... holy shit that came out longer than i expected. but honestly, of many MSI songs, this one does seem to hold some good meaning; though it still has that element of tease -- or sillyness, the right word might be? -- to it. So in some wacky way this is kinda-sorta a love song? Haha, well, closest thing there is. eh, well, whether its some wacky love song or its just Jimmy once again demanding something of proving him wrong, making him cum, or shutting him up ... its still quite a fucking good song with its different sound to it. |

i must agree with the idea that love is becoming some limited source of energy, or something fake -- it explains why bobby says "sometimes its hard" after "this love is electric, it'll be flowing on the street, night after night, just to get through the week." ... its something hard to maintain because it is electric ... it needs to constantly be recharged, perhaps? then he explains that "there's only one way" ... our attachments to machines is making us lose valor of things ... like the constant reference to love, or the mako (as an animal), or the twiight skies ... |
