this song is only depressing if you listening to it when you're already sad. slow doesn't have to mean sad. its actually a great love song because either you're having happy love feelings or sad ones this song will work for you either way. i especially like it because my name is mary and so is the subject of the song. its just an amazing song, this version and the 311 version as well. its a really sweet song. oh yeah i'm supposed to post a meaning. its about UNCONDITIONAL love. |

both versions of this song are amazing. its a big compliment to know your song was incredible enough for friggin johnny cash to cover it. i think trent's voice when he starts the chorus sounds epic. you can like feel something building up inside you as the beat builds up in the chorus also. |

people are immature. i wanted to come to this page and see how people intemperate the song. too bad everyone's having a korn vs. no korn debate. go somewhere else and do that. someone please post an actual song meaning. if anyone cares i think this song is about his efforts being stepped on and he feels like he's being held back. maybe its about his own fame (the cheap fuck part suggests groupies) and how he wants to do more with his/their music. maybe its about the struggles of becoming successful in the music industry. obviously they did become successful but they started out like every other band just trying and its a lot of work. maybe he finds the fame overrated and wasn't what he thought it was going to be when he first aspired to get to this point. |

| i think this song is a less negative than people think. its obviously about an obsessive love. he's always wanted to change for the better but he's only had to power to because of her. i really do not see how its about control. i think the power comes from her but not because he has control in "animal sex." some people just make eachother better. you can have insane sex without it being about your control issues. he definately is insecure and needs her to make him forget all the bad. he's needy but not in an obvious way because he isn't a pussy. he can't doubt god with someone like her in existence. but when it comes down to it, he's a human being and a male one at that. humans are animals. sex is a part of every animal's life. | |
