| Basically, this is about a person who is emotionally lost. For instance, he/she is depressed, is searching for something, feels alone, is tired emotionally. They search for comfort in things like drugs and alcohol and do it out of regret. "Step to the edge. It's a long way down" means that he/she is giving up and therefore is "stepping to the edge" like committing suicide. The chorus is talking about the speaker basically trying to sacrifice to help and encourage him/her to be the way he/she used to be. Finally, I think the "Hello, it's me, I couldn't sleep. I was just counting sheep. I'm missing you." is where the speaker is telling him/her that he misses the way they used to be and he can't sleep because he's worried about him/her. | |
