Interpol – Pioneer to the Falls Lyrics 12 years ago
Just discovering Interpol - heavy but compelling.....That title seems to be the giveaway - Pioneer to the Falls, about the murder of the young woman. Show me the dirt pile, apparently from the Wikipedia article shows a kind of shrine. Could be a grave, could be the shrine. Show him the dirt pile and he prays that the soul of the young woman can take three stowaways - not sure who those three are?

Vanish with no guile - the woman who was murdered vanished with no guile, not recognizing the danger. It seems the song is told from the singer's point of view - he's never met the woman but he admires her. Her story made him fly straight into his heart.

When he talks about here comes the fault - there was quite a bit in the article about whose fault it was. Should the Falls workers have made sure the woman got a cab instead of letting her leave alone. Also the murderer apparently had a record, and should not have been working at the bar because he was out on parole.

So much for make-believe and not so
So much for dreams we see but not prepared to know (there was quite a bit about how the woman was an excellent student, full of promise)
Your heart makes me feel, your heart makes me moan
For always and ever I'll never let go
Always concealed, safe and inside, alive! (singer will keep the woman in his heart, safe and inside - and most importantly alive, not murdered)

I pull the back from the gray? That's an interesting line.

Yes, I'm right there with you. I love that part too - totally briliant to drop in the piano

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club – Fault Line Lyrics 15 years ago
Anybody think he's already died and is going to the afterlife in this song?
He's standing with his dying bed, maybe his father's already dead so he's racing to his father's dead. He's lying in the bright lights, out of body experience, looking at his body and his shadow.

He's drowning in the rising tide. His spirit is moving through the window to the river (River Styx) and he sees the lights on the other side...

I just saw No Country for Old Men again it makes me think of the last scene where he talks about meeting his father after he dies.

Camera Obscura – James Lyrics 15 years ago
Love this album and this song in particular. I don't see the suicide here. I see that she and James were together. James wronged her somehow, cheated maybe. They broke up. Cue song - first verse, James goes to her hoping they can be friends despite what he did; he will still love her.

Second verse she says her love for him is stronger. Third, she says it was a good year. She fell in love with him; that scared her; and when it went wrong he broke her - broke her heart. She though she knew him but maybe she didn't based on what he did.

At the end she's saying can't you see you still belong with me. I would love to know what Tracyanne was thinking on many of these songs - are there any interviews out there?
