They had their fun together and now the other person has decided to end it permanently. |

The title of this song is Scumbag Blues, not just Scumbag.
"You may think me altruistic..." - Whoever is speaking is really a scumbag, but when people meet him/her, they're all nice and friendly and ready to give them what they want, but really they're only interested in themselves. The scumbag is controlling them and manipulating them into doing what they want. |

You know what? I still can't catch the line 'living in the era vulgaris'. It sounds like there is something extra there, but I can't place it. Sounds like 'Living in the Era vul-fucking-garis' or something like that.

I always thought this was about lying and getting away with it. The person speaking certainly seems to be doing so, hence "No one's catching on, calling my bluff..." and he's built up this life of lies, that might possibly unravel. |
