(I'll show you one lie*) we were fighting on. *or line; hard to tell which he's singing. Note: parentheses notes backup vocals. There are 2 because the vocals each come from a different side of the speakers, therefore sounding like 2 separate people or performances. |

First of all, I LOVE LOVE this song. But on the other hand, it's hard to tell what this song is really about. It seems like it's all over the place (lyrical content-wise), and the fact that it's hard for us to agree on the lyrics makes even harder to tell the meaning. I think the general theme is something like "I've come a long way, but some things are still like before, and I like it that way." The chorus is case-in-point; "I still take bad advice from my best friends." Maybe that's one of the few things he did before changing and he still does. (I'm still not sure how to interpret the bridge and the post-chorus, though.) |
