Excellent analysis swollengoat68.....it is very hard for me to understand the meaning of clutch's lyrics sometimes.....i always have an idea of what it means it's just hard for me to put it into words and that's where people like you come in to help me haha....I've always been a fan of clutch, but I have a much deeper respect for them than i ever did before now that i understand Neil's lyrics.....i use to think he was just a guy with a heavy voice to fit the band......but it amazes me how intelligent their lyrics are in combination with the humor. I love it. |

People say this song is about the Bush administration issues with Hurricane Katrina...which i agree for the most part. But i also take this song to mean that the American people are too guilty of a crime. Most Americans are naive, bought off, and "asleep" to what is really going on. Most of us are quick to bitch yet we never really do anything about are political problems. Most people are going through life with a sheet over their eyes, never questioning their government, following what are leaders tell us to do, sleeping....rather than being wide awake. Whether or not this double meaning was ment by Cornell, i don't know, but it is how i interpret it. |
